First of all, nice job on taking care of the wife first. Tell her we said she's a lucky woman.

I think it's more a matter of being patient than waiting until winter. Just keep looking until you find what meets your criteria, and then wave cash under the guy's nose. Remember, money talks, so don't be afraid to lowball a little. The worse that happens is he says no, and you keep on looking, and maybe he calls you a month later when he realizes he can't get his price.

You might want to check to see how much $ difference there is in insurance between a 600 and a 929 or 954 - probably not much, but worth checking out.

It is definitely a buyers market in the fall and winter. I have made some of my best deals when the snow was on the ground. Buyer beware.. you won't get a test ride so make sure you do a thourough check before dropping your cash.Example $1800 for a yzf600 prvious owner paid $5300 in spring. CBR600f $300 in fall Previous owner paid $2000 in spring...

IDK if this is what you're referring to, but the hot wife thread is funny as hell. I knew it would be um...interesting.

I started with a 94 F2, then F4i and then a 929. The 929 was an incredible bike. Very easy bike to ride, plenty of power. My old roommate has the 954, not that much of a difference between the two. Like others said, make sure you are comfortable with whatever you get. Niether of the three bikes will disappoint you.

Thanks man, but ebay puts me off a bit. It looks good, but it's a bit to far for me (7 hrs one way), and I doubt he'll take 4k.

i've had 2 f3's, 2 929's, a f4i, a 900rr and a hayabusa. bought bikes at all different times of the year and sold them that way too. one thing to remember is that if you find a good deal and you jump on it ... something better will come up later , fact of life. if you pass on a great deal .. you wont find it again lol ive been lucky in finding deals. i dont know what area your in but you can easily get a f4i or 929 for 4k in my area. hell ive even seen a 04 1krr for 5k .

i look at it this way.. if you have to find reasons to talk yourself INTO buying the bike then you can pass on it... if your searching for answers to not buy it and coming up short then take it. but in a battle of f4i vs 929 .... get the 929 , you wont regret it

Well, to me the bike I buy is solely a function of value. I obviously don't want to pay too much, and don't want to pick up something that's a mess just to get a deal. That being said, I would rather a 929. But if it comes down to a 929 which seems like a lot of younger guys have owned, was serviced by the owner, and has higher miles (what I find most often in my area) and an f4i which was dealer serviced and has lower mileage with an owner who seems pretty responsible, then there is no decision at all. I don't just want a 929 because it's a better bike. I want something that's in the best shape possible for the price. So, f4i is the most likely. You are right, it is possible to find a 929 for a good price. I've seen them around. I've even seeing 600rr's in my range, but they don't seem to be in the shape (at $4000) that the f4i's are in.

Good advise about talking myself into a bike. I tend to do that way too much. The best thing I think I can do is start making offers (at least 2 a week) and see what happens. I should definitely feel good about it right away, not after considering it.

I know who you are ! The cook and the dude that made a video for parting out the bike

$4000 should get you any of those bikes you want if you look around enough. Most 929's are going for about that.
