They probably were laughing at either the fact that you were out in the cold weather (for some reason people think i'm crazy to do it, too) or that when you revved maybe they thought you accidentally rolled on the throttle and didnt really mean to do it. Maybe they are riders and thought you were some squidly nub.

So I flip him off and just stare straight ahead, nothing else happened, I got out in front and left them behind.
The hand gesture won't change the other guys behavior for the better, and being a middle aged white guy that usually hangs out with other middle age white guys (how old is Ken Shamrock?) I can say that you sometimes can get the exact wrong response from that gesture and unless you are Tito Ortiz it may be best to be nice.

Remember, some middle age white guys grew up in nasty parts of the country and have been in nasty parts of the world doing things to people that you wouldn't want done to you. Best thing to do is use your horn and wave nicely, keep your fingers to yourself, don't learn the hard way that some middle age white guy may have had a bad day or his soon to be ex-wife is sleeping with the pool-boy (who owns a bike similar to yours) and all it takes is one wild hair on his part and he gives you a little bump and you are a cripple.

Be nice to people, even middle age white guys, I don't want some other old guy thinking I am some 20 something year old ******* needing to be taught a lesson when he is in a SUV and I am out riding on a beautiful fall day.
