Tell me I'm [not] Crazy

Tell me I'm [not] Crazy
So I'm going to work this morning, get into the city, pretty congested, and this guy creeps up in the lane to my right and looks like he's going to try and squeeze in, in front of me. So I give the engine a couple quick revs to make sure he knows I'm there and it's how I say, "don't even think about it buddy". It didn't require a honking thing, but I like to make my presence known. Anyways, so we pull up to the light, and it's a station wagon with a bunch of middle aged white guys, the guy in the passenger's seat is pointing at me and laughing hysterically. So I flip him off and just stare straight ahead, nothing else happened, I got out in front and left them behind.
Am I crazy? Would you react any different if somebody was creeping up trying to squeeze in? I don't think I did anything crazy, maybe they thought it was humorous, but kinda pissed me off. I hate people sometimes. It's like 40 degrees out and don't try and play Mr. Friendly with me when most people are perfectly happy to run me over... I think I did the right thing, best thing you can really do to people laughing at you, let 'em know you think they're an *******, and then leave them alone.

I probably would have just let them infront of me. I figure I jump infront of people all the time on my bike why not return the favor around back to someone else. It depends though on the situation I guess. If there is a little space infront of me to the next car and someone wants to get over into my lane I do NOT speed up so they can't. That sort of thing pisses me off.

I didn't really speed up or slow down, or make any blatent effort to stop him from getting over, there was plenty of room. It was that the guy kept staring at me ... first in his mirrors, then the people in the car... it was the staring and laughing.
I hear what you're saying about the cutting off though, I didn't really do anything blatently to keep him from getting in front of me, we were all creeping along pretty slow and he passes me on the right, then I suppose decides he wants to get over in front of me all of a sudden, so I revved it a couple times.

It sounds like you did act agressively which is understandable, but keep in mind no matter how fast you are on your bike, when you slow down they win by gross tonage and can easily do serious harm to you or your bike if they want to. I always let the car have the right of way even if I don't think it's fair. Plus, as snowboarding82 said, we cut them off all the time, so sometimes it just so happens that they return the favor.

RE: Tell me I'm [not] Crazy
I always think of that line "You have just crossed over into the Twilight Zone" when I go out on my bike, I've had more weird **** happen to me while riding, that ever driving a car (and I once used to drive Taxi's!!) People react to bikes in weird ways, they think of us as "Suicide Jockeys" or "Tough Guys". I'm belong to a touring club, we went away one year, and as usual on the ride, the group (200plus) got spread out over the trip. A friend that I was riding with got cut off by this ****** & his mates in a Korean car, on a really bad piece of road. So my friend tooted his horn & gave this guy the usual finger, and this guy reacted by speeding up, then hitting the brakes, the usual penile challenged antics of a cretin.
Anyway, we both over took these guys and sped off, didn't think anymore about it. Pulled in to get petrol at a designated meeting place about 30 minutes later. So we filled the bikes moved em over onto the parking area, having a chat about the ride etc, when lo and behold this guy in the car, roars in (dust everywhere), slams on the brakes, he and his three mates jump out and walked towards us, swearing and carrying on like tough dudes, how their going to do this & that to us, when the other bikes started to arrive, and arrive, and arrive......
These "Dudes" just did not know wot to do (the other club members had to idea wot was going on anyway they where just there to get petrol) But this dudes buddies ran back to the car, leaving this guy suddenly all alone. My friend and I both had really big grins by this stage, so we walked toward him and he backed away from us, almost into the path of a car pulling out of the servo, when this little old guy jumps out of his car and starts yelling & slapping this guy around, We just stood there, gobbed smacked, till the guy from the servo came out and dragged the old guy off! Fantastic. This guy must have been so demoralised, that I reckon that a truck load a viagra still wouldn't help. But like I said only on a bike.

I like to hear stories like that... because most of the time we're outnumbered, out sized, and just abused... I like riding my bike, it's one of the few things I enjoy during the day. I think everyone should have the experience of riding a manual car, a motorcycle, and have a physically laborious job... They just don't realize...
