Another suggestion is to do GOOD reps. I can't stand seeing bad form because I know it is a waste of time. You know, the guys that hump alot ofplates on a bench press and their *** and back come off the bench for every rep...that is a bull**** waste of time. Don't have an ego and only puton enough weight that you can do perfect reps for. If you chose five or twelve reps, make sure the weight you chose allows you to do it well.
I thought I heard that Arnold's book emphasizes weight, and not form. Basically, I remember being told by a bodybuilding friend that old Arnie had the idea that it's more important to finish a set, even if your form is compromised a bitby the end. I guess I sort of agree, and I sort of don't. I think it's probably a bad philosophy for a beginner, but not harmful to someone who has lots of experience. I'm noteven sure thatI'm remembering the quote correctly btw, so I maybe way off. For the most part, though, I agree with you (especially for my purposes). Thanks for the advice.

I have gained about twenty pounds since I got married two years ago. I am going to buy myself a nice pair of leathers in the waist size I want to be, and work my way to them. Make sense?
I have the opposite problem. None of my gear fits. It's just too big (what a problem to have-huh?). I wear a "medium" now, and have a 32 in waist. Even the clothes I had that were way too tight to wear are way too baggy now. I had to buy a whole new wordrobe, which is great for my ego, but not so great for my pocketbook. I haven't been thissmall since I had to cut downduring late fall andwinter for wrestling while in high school (10 years ago-ouch!). After a workout, I'm often hovering around 149 lbs. I remember when I had to bust my *** for a couple of months to get to 150, now it's more or less my normal weight.

I actually like this weight (more appropriately, this size). Last year this time, I was about 250 lbs. I was honestly just sick of being a fat guy, so I exercised some self control. The more I eat right (most of the time), the easier it is to continue to do so. I've become addicted to my cardio, and need to do the same with weights, so that my phisique is more well defined, ans I hav a bit more bulk in my upper body. I'd say I want to keep a 32 in waist, but add a good 15 lbs of muscle.

How should I start off, btw? Should I just do one to two days a week for a while alternating "pushing", "pulling", and "legs"or is there a better way? Also, I have kids, not a lot of day care options, and a busy work schedule,so I need to keep it around 3 days a week (possibly 4, if I can find time on Sunday). Anyone think this will be a problem?
