suggestions on a new bike (2004+)
ok guys, i just sold the F3 an hour ago (3900.00). now im looking for my next bike. throw up some suggestions. im looking for a 2003 or newer liter bike. ive been looking at some R1's and a couple 1krr's. im leaning only twords honda or yamaha. nothing against gixxers, kawais or busas, but.. i loved my F3 and but i had a stiffy riding my friends 2004 R1 (solo of course, lol). its a toss up between the 1krr and the r1.
looking to spend about 8000.00 cash, and no more. the reason im looking for a liter bike is im afraid if i buy another 600, in a month or so of riding (next season) ill kick myself in the ars for not buying a liter bike in the first place. so buy it now and not have to worry about it in the future.
i can get an 03 R1 with 3k miles for 6200.00 at a stealership, but im thinking i can get it for 6k out the door.
im not in a real hurry to buy it right away as it will be stored untill spring, but i want to start to look and maby buy soon.
thanks guys
dave

that r1 for 6200 is pretty decent assuming it's in good shape.
i don't think you'll be kickin' yourself for getting a 600. the new 600's nowadays are some serious machines. i know i'll never ride one to its limits so i'm very happy sticking to 'em. even though i sold my 600 i will replace it with another one (just newer)

ill probably never reach a 600's limits either, but if i want a ton of power quickly a 1k will do it. i just dont want to buy a 600 and then a few months of riding it, wishing i would have bought the 1k instead. my friend keeps letting me ride his R1, so i think im hooked.
as far as the R1 i found. it has a pretty rough looking chain (needs a thurough clean and lube), it also has a couple minute impression "dots" on the clutch cover, (not lowside looking marks) and the right rear tail section has some wear on the graphics and paint. salesman said its from a passenger helmet being carried and strapped there. but there are a couple scrape lines too and i called the salesman out on it. he said he couldnt see the impressions on the clutch cover. remember, im a high end auto detailer. its my job to be really thurough when inspecting cars, ect. but everything elase on the bike looks near mint.
