Storing bike

So I am going to be working up north as a summer camp counselor this summer and will be commuting on weekends to and from camp.

My bike will be stored outside...possibly in the grass.

Any suggestions for storage?

Worth it to buy a special cover, or will a tarp and some rocks on the corners due?

Is it terrible to leave your bike in the rain...thunderstorms? I ussually leave my car outside and she is fine.

for the grass part, should I put some wood down to park her on..or is it fine to leave it in the grass? I don't want a rain to make the kickstand sink down and have her spill and what not.

Any tips/suggestions? all are welcome. thanks

Use a mud puck/solid base for your kickstand.

As for a cover... You can buy a bike-specific cover, make due w/a tarp, or... Funny thing I noticed a few mos back.. I needed a new cover for my grill. Picked up one called "Patio Armor" at Costco for $18. Got home, put it on my grill, & thought - hey, that would go right over my CBR. ;-) So, I threw it over my CBR & sure enough, it was a perfect fit! :-D Makes a really nice bike cover for $18! :-)

I would use more than just the standard kickstand guard when on the grass...I'd get a nice piece of plywood or something and put that underneath the bike and tarp/cover. Then still use the normal kickstand guard on top of the plywood.

As for cover, I always keep my bike in the garage so I wouldn't really know what to use, but the grill cover seems like a good idea.

My bike lives outside all the time with no cover. Not ideal I know, but I don't have anywhere to put it inside.

A stand prob isn't necessary unless you need/want to store it next to a bldg/wall. Even then, not really needed.

Here's the $18 grill cover from Costco...Costco Premium Grill
