RE: Shooting down a satellite is dumb
Doesnt have anything to do with chemicals, it has to do with the Govt. information that is on that sattelite. Considering 1/2 the world doesnt look highly upon us that info would go to the highest bidder if it landed in un allied territories. examples of buyers of that information... Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, and Venezuela.
I heard something about this on the news about a month ago before it became a big deal, and that was what the report said. Was that they were concerned about Govt secrets on the sattelite if any info was recoverable. Then nothing about it for 3 weeks. Now its a big deal with a different cause?...hmmmmm

It has nothing to do with pollution or the object killing people on the ground, the government don't care about that, that is just happy horse**** nonsense.
It is just target practice or a way to gather data to defend against Anti-sat weapons. I think last year China launched an A-sat weapon and our Gov't kinda freaked. Without satellites our ability to wage war is severly hampered and given China is launching everything into space the U.S. military needs to figure some stuff out. Of course if the satellite makes it through re-entry and passes on info, that is even worse.
What ever it is, it is an opportunity to learn something or stop someone else learning about your stuff.
