To sell or not to sell?

I have a F2 that seems to be a lemon for me. Nothing goes right. :( Its a 96 F3 Frame and everything else is an F2. I bought it for 1500 hundreded and i think i got kinda ripped. Anyways it needs a new right side fairing and a new upper right fairing. Needs a new brake lever also and my speedometer just went out. The bike other than that is in pretty good condition. Carbs cleaned, oil changed every 2K bike is rust free other than the exhaust(no holes though). It has 355xx miles on it. It also needds 2 new mirrors. Below are pics i just took today. It was layed down at around 20mph as yall may have read in my earlier thread. Nothing major and bike still runs strong.

Should i sell it and save up for a newer bike around price of 2.5k-3k? or should i keep this bike and fix it up. How much wold you pay for this bike? Cause when i sell it im not looking to rip someone off. Thanks abunch :)

I say save and get a newer better bike, I would pay about the price range that playfulgod gave

Yer ... unless you have a very soft spot for that particular CBR .... I would clean her up tp the max !! and try to squeeze as many bucks back out of her and you can ..

Shelling another 500 into her is really not wise as far as the year and her condition ect goes ... but hey ...if she has a place in your heart , that's a different matter ....

With choices like this I spose it really becomes very relative to your financial situation ?
If you can only scrape up a few hundred only without straining the budget ... maybe fixing her is the way to go ...?
If finances are not an issue? ... I would just trade her up on another good CBR and be done with it ...

I would say sell and look forward to buying a newer or better bike ... sometimes we just don't feel it for a bike and we keep on convincing ourselves it will be better when I do this or get that ... I just feel you are not really loving it and a bike should be loved and make you feel great ... there are so many quite good original early CBRs out there for not too much money that you could do a lot better ... if I wanted another F2 I would look for as close to mint as I could, I want to ride a bike, not keep fixing it up to make it look better and I want to love my bike too, it's a pride of ownership thing ... you can do better, cut your losses and I think you will feel much better once you make the decision ... my choice would be a 98 mint F3 or an early F4i if you are on a budget ... good luck and let us all know what you do, but really sometimes it's best to just buy the best you can afford ... in the long run it can be cheaper than buying a rough one and then spending all your hard earned on it while you don't get to even ride it ... life is too short sometimes.....

Good luck!! :-)

so ya learned alot on this bike, it wont be yer last, fix and touch up things best you can and let it go in spring when everyone is bike hungry. save up and buy a much newer bike and yool find you will ride alot more than fixin up all the time. when i went from a 93 to a 2001 bike , i could not believe how much better the ride and all ive done is put fuel in it and wash/waxand other NORMAL maint. i take way more fun rides as im not worried about the old girl stranded me. Good luck brother

as we say up in maine, "minahh" (thats minor in maine talk) ha ha so you need a speedo, and you need mirrors and a brake lever. ha ha take the other fairing off and make it a streetfighter. ha ha a brake leaver and mirrors cheap. sure you can find stuff on craigslist or e-bay. use some duct tape and your good. haha my katana was like that and i atleast rode it for a season. haha. i say fix it . it will be cheaper then a newer bike and it will get you on to two wheels. ha ha. you screwed yourself with me when you said it runs strong and stuff haha. another maine saying. efing runahhhh!!!! runnahh til she blows bub!!!!

Good recommendations here already. I'll add another into the mix. That is, consider keeping it as a spare bike. If you don't absolutely need the few hundred you'd get for this bike, then it might just be worth more as a running spare. Just a thought.

Well i dont wanna lose my two wheels. I think im going to replace the things that are broken. On ebay im looking at around 20 bucks for mirrors with free shipping. Thatll let me ride it and ill start saving money up then. 700 bucks isnt worht selling it and ill keep it as a spare bike. Maybe overtime fully restore it. Thanks for all the input everyone.
