I was crusing the other day, and a new R6 flew past me like I was standing still! I really want to try out a 09 this comming spring. I want to move up too something new, and I really like Yamaha's aggressive styling.
Maybe it would help if it was set up a bit differn't? Maybe the R6S would ride more like your F4?
My main question is hows the reliablity on them compared to a CBR

my friend has an '08 R6 and we switched bikes leaving work once. just not my cup of tea. i used to want one, an R6. not instead of my Honda of course, but as a second choice. but after riding his, no way in hell. the seating position sucked, the red glowing guages took more time for your eyes to settle on at night to read vs. the yellow/orange neutral color on the Honda's, and the power is up too high. at 60mph i can twist the throttle on the RR and it is like im on a rocket. the R6, twist it at 60mph and you better be patient enough to wait till it creeps up to 80+mph before it takes off.

i'll stick w/ my Honda

The R1 is the same, everything at the top end. Great for the track but who drives 10 tenths everywhere? Stick with Honda!!!!

I have ridden Suzuki, Yamaha and Honda. Out of the big 3 I prefer Honda by far. Thinking about getting a RR soon.

Guys...

I love my Honda, but the R6 is and R1 are so good too in many different ways; unconfortable... probably so but there are so many SPORTBIKES that arethis way to make you feel and to have a taste of what a trackbike is like, so i don't mind it one bit.[8D]

I agree with your pros/cons for the r6 showtime. I've ridden two. One was a '99, the other an '02. Both were definitely more interesting (read: fast) than my old F-2, but not as streetable. My '03 rr doesn't have that problem. I mean, my 600rr is not extremely comfortable as far as seating position, but it's certainly much better than the r6. Power delivery is much smoother, and it feels more agile. All in all, as much as I'm still a fan of the r6, I think I found the better of the two, at least for me.

I agree with just about everything that has been said so far. I rode a 07 r6 for a day just recently and hated it...but I took my friends r6 to Thunderhill just a couple weeks ago and absolutely loved it. Handled great and it was finally a place where the power band was usefull.
