Reflective decals illegal?

I want to increase visibility with maybe some reflective rim stripes. Anyone know if cops get pissy about them????

I have never heard of it - I would consider it a good thing - more visible.

I don't see any reason why it would be illegal. If harleys can have unlimited chrome then why can't you have a few decals so people can see you better.

Local laws (North Dakota) are okay with: "any source that does not emit any color that represents, or could be perceived to represent, emergency or official vehicles, signs, or any other public notice equal to or higher than 11'." (I think the height rule is to permit business signs.)

That pretty bans most colors other than purple or green as fair as underglow goes. I can't imagine reflectors "could be perceived to represent" a color, but it's fairly subjective. Cyclists and other pedestrians are encouraged to wear reflective clothing, so I would check with The Man to be sure.

There are red and white reflective decals on semis and work trucks...

making yourself more visible to other drivers on the road isn't a bad thing. I've heard of cops pulling over riders to comment on how well they were able to see them in the day or night ie lighting, reflective tape

It sounds like a really good idea. I don't see why it would be illegal anywhere.

its completely legal and i actually had a problem with an inspection sticker here in Massachusetts bc when i put on my fender eliminator, i removed two reflectors on the left and right sides of my tail section. So basically you need to have reflectors on the "rear half" of the bike. so the temporary solution were two reflective stickers i stuck to my swing arm (1x3"), ugly as hell by the way. so after i pulled them off and put reflective rim stripe on the wheels, brought it to the inspection station and guy said that is more than enough, and actually thought it was a good idea.... so that is my long answer to a short question... by the way this is a link to a GREAT way to get the rim tape put on perfectly.
