R6..... Broken...

RE: R6..... Broken...
Lesson of the day: Bear Mountain is not a place to take rookies on 600s for practice.
Myself, NY Erion, and three other guys go up to Bear Mtn this morning bright and early. Awesome weather, all around a great prospect for a day. I was wrong. The first issue is a friend of and broken bike below came along with us. He sucked. Good rider, horrible road handling ability. Splitting lanes, double laning tractor trailers, never staying in formation, highways blowby's at 100+. This kid was a ******* jerk, case closed. Ruined my day.

Part two: We are riding up the mountain from the mobil, the kid on the R6 in the back, cause he was a little slower. Plan was to all take your time, meet up at the top, and take it from there. Did not really work out that way. We get to the top (4/5 of us), and we are waiting for the last guy to come up. Then the phone rings, which is never good, cause there really isnt a place to stop, which means he was not on his bike anymore.

He tells us he wrecked, so we head back down. We get there, and he is fine thank god, but the yami.. was toast. IT could have been worse, but it went face first into a guard rail... Bent the forks, killed most of the plastics, and we think warped a rotor... Pretty rough. Took like an hour for the tow truck to show up, cause we were in a state park that does not allow commercial traffic. Takes almost an hour to get the bike on the truck cause the guys taht showed up did not have a clue. We get towed to home depot, where we wait for a truck, get it in a van, and then get stuck in traffic 30 minutes later. What was supposed to be a nice morning run turned into an all day afair.

Hindsight is 20/20, and in looking back I should have not invited the new riders (one of which I didnt know) to come up to one of the most challenging roads in the area. HE tried to keep up and below is the result. Good thing he was wearing his gear, didnt really even get rashed. Ok... the good stuff.
