Chantix was effective for me...right up until I quit Chantix because of the nasty side effects and started smoking again a month later.

first of all, if you're trying to quit, dont smoke one in the morning, that always makes you want one later in the day (smoking in the morning does). Go as long as you can between cigs, which depending on how many you smoke should be about 1 a day (plus it gives you that buzz, which is the whole reason most of us started smoking anyway) after you reach one a day, extend the time between them more, go until it's the only thing on your mind. this would have been successful for me but parties and all kind of interupted it and now im back to about 6 a day

WILLPOWER! The only ever time I quit smoking was when I did it cold turkey. Lasted for 8 months then I was back at it. They say the average smoker quits 5 times before they actually are done with it. I guess that means I have 4 more times to go.

People I know who tried the gum are just addicted to it as well now.

Just make the decision to quit, not to *try* to quit. Man up and just do what you know is right. I went from 2 packs a day of Camel (filter and non) to ZERO in one day cold turkey. Got 7 years without one now.

Don't fail and let the world see TheX do something better than you, you know how much of a bastard he is.

I quit smoking back in May. I just quit. I told myself i was done once i was out of smokes, and then ran out and never when back.

You just have to commit to quiting. Its not going to work if you dont really want to quit. I had my wife pressuring me so that was a good incentive for me to quit. Be possitive about it dont hang out with people who are going to offer you a smoke when they know you are quitting, those guys will just keep bringing you down.

Just stay with it, good luck

The other times i tried quitting i used the patch and the gum(different times). They just made me want to smoke even more.

The best way is to get the nicotin out of your system (7 days) and then its easier from there.

Cold Turkey and will power is the way to go.
