Questions on dirtbikes?????
 

I am currently looking for a dirtbike for myself and my wife. She has only ridden a dirtbike once before we met. I am wondering what size CC would be good for her. She is 5'3 125. Has a small inseam. She is a tiny girl. Please give me some suggestions. Dirtbikes is not my area of expertise.

Well, starting out a CRF125 would probably be a good bike. For you I would say get the CRF250R or the CR125, both are really good bikes! Or if you are a real hard ass you could get yourself one of these!

It's a CRF50..... my friend bought one and I took it for some wheelies and this 25 foot table top....I was suprised it made the whole jump.

Honda has a crf150r expert. The seat height is 34.1in, dry weight 169.7lbs. The non expert 150 is a few inches shorter and a few pounds lighter.

Avoid 2 storkes they are hell. Yah any 150 or 125 would be good for your wife. For you I would got no smaller than a 250. They have some decent power but I prefer 400s or bigger if you want to do some serious trail riding. I'm a big fan of the drz 400 but really just buy what you can get the good deal on. If you get a larger cc 4 stroke they become very tough to kick over so consider one with an electric start. Let me know when you get one and we can meet up at glamis.

If you weigh more than 180lbs you should go with a 400cc+ bike. Im about 160lbs and I have a CRF250R which is more than enough power on dirt and in trails. But In the sand I really need the 450. Oh and two strokes are hell.^ You have to keep them wraped out to have any power and you can foul out a plug just by looking at it. Not really but they are more touchy than four strokes.

my girl is 5'2" and she has a crf230f. it's a little tall, but definately not unmanagable. the crf150f is the same basic bike with smaller wheels/tires and smaller engine. and don't worry about the 230cc's. it really is a rider friendly bike. electric start and old-style air cooled (no radiator to break). the reliability is awesome. i've never done anything except oil changes and brake pads. and the price is awesome. around $3500 msrp.

i have a suzuki drz400 and i would recommend it to anyone. actually, anyone who doesn't plan on racing mx. it's an awesome trailbike, reliable as hell, and enough performance for any level rider. dohc, liquid cooled, and e-start. it really is well priced for what you get. but it's tall, like 37" seat height. mine is actually a street legal "S" model and it spends about 50% of the time in supermoto form.

any more questions, just ask. your best bet though is to take a trip to your local dealer and sit on a few bikes and see which ones fit yourself and your wife. comfort is the most important thing for anyone looking into getting into dirtbikes.

I never realized that the 230f was that short. That would be a great bike too. +1 on the comfort too.

i must say the yamaha YZ 125 is a great bike! especially my bike:D..lol.. but ya, the CRF line is PERFECT for what you are looking for..

My friend has one of those, it is a lot of fun and it has a good amount of power. really quick throttle response.
