Good decision to stick it out, it’s only 4 months. You said you’re going to start SEAL training to get prepared… will you be trying out for the SEAL’s? I’m not recommending the Navy either way. You sound a lot more mature than I was when I was 18, so you will do well. What rate are you going to try for, some of us can give you pointers on them. If you’re trying out for the SEAL’s, you still have to pick a normal rate to start with. I heard they were talking about SEAL being its own rate (and it should) but I don’t know if it is yet. Good luck.

Congrats on your decision to do what's best for your future. I wont get into the long story...my other bretheren have said all that needs to be said. I am a U.S. Marine of 13 years. I am also a former recruiter of 3 years. I have seen many of your type and trust me when I say that you should finish school...join any branch: Air Force, Army, Navy or The Few...The Proud..The Marines. If you feel that you aren't ready to finish high school this close to the end...you may not be ready to be on your own out there in civilian life. The military will take care of you and give you better opportunities and time to decide what you want to do with your future. Stay tough and you' ll will make it. We've all been down that road. I DEP'd in (Delayed Entry Program) at the end of my 11th grade year. I went to boot camp 3 months after graduating and haven't looked back since. It's your turn...

Thank a lot guys. I'm glad I didn't decide to drop out. I can't believe I was even thinking about doing that. I don't think I want to be a SEAL, because honestly, I don't think I'm tough enough to be a SEAL. Takes a lot of determination and ambition, which I do have, but I don't know, it's just another thing I have to decide upon later down the road. I am just doing SEAL training to help me get prepaired for what I will experience through boot camp, etc. I don't know exactly what I want to be, but I'm almost positive I want to join the Navy or the Air Force. I've always wanted to be a Jet Piolet since I was like 8, maybe I can persue my dreams into reality. How hard is it to become a Air Force Piolet?

Seriously, thanks a lot guys for the motivation. I really needed it!

umm. yes, it's very difficult. you'd have an easier time becoming a SEAL. Aviators are officers and generally those who have had an in-depth academic history. You'd have to score really well on math and have near perfect eye sight. The eye sight thing can be corrected... the navy hit my eyes with a laser a few hundred times and I now see 20/20. If this is something that you want... I'd really suggest doing college first.

For the boot camp, don't sweat it. If you can do 70+ push up and sit-ups and run a mile and a half in 12:30 or under... you're smoking the physical side of it. And I've heard from air force buddies that their boot camp was easier. Hell, they get time off. We're locked in for 12 weeks. Your day will start at 4am and end at 10pm. You mostly learn how to eat, march, dress, eat some more, march some more... and so on. It's a pain, but once you do it.. you'll look back and say "was that it?"

feel free to use my email or pm if you have more questions. I'll make time to let you know what ever it is you need to know.

im probably going to get criticizes for this one. i dont think special forces is as much physical training as it is mental. dont get me wrong, it is physically hard!!!! i know pararescue isnt the same thing as the seals, but i had a friend going through that and he couldnt run aa mile. but before he joined, he determined that it was the only job he wanted. so he stuck it out and wouldnt give up. after getting washed back about 2 times in indoc, he finally made it. i believe it was all do to his determination. he would NOT give up for anything!!!
