Pure Genius of incredible stupidity?

Ok, I don't have a pitstand and after the last cleaning and lubing my chain 5" at a time I was desperate for somthing. Then.... like a flash of blinding light that almost knocked me to my knees, I saw it. Free! Easy! Functional! Stupid? maby... but hey, I'v been known to go outa my way to be lazy. So, I put the bike in gear, line verything up, grab the rear tire and give the ol'e heave ho. It works! After about 1 min of shifting weight and kicking stands she's stabel! now, I know the potential for disaster was great, but through perservierence and a determination to do it the easy way I had succeded!

I admire your determination, but you can find a stand of some sort for 75 or so, and it's just oh so much easier. You'll thank yourself in short time.

How much does a 1000RR weigh?
you're deadlifting about 210 lbs (about half of the 400ish the bike weighs) while maintaining it balanced on the front tire (which pivots, by the way), and freewheels whithout the front brake being applied.

Incredibly risky if you ask me. I'd get a rear stand instead.

I hope you at least you had a spotter holding your front brake and handlebar steady. If not you were incredibly lucky.
Glad it worked out though.

I love It!! Why didn't I think of that? I didn't have a spoter though, unless you count the dog waching! I did wait untill the wife came home to pull the stands out when I lifted the bike. It's really not that heavy, go to the garage and try it. A little akward but I'v done worse.... But It was REALLY stable Once I got it up!

I've thought of this too, but you had the balls to make your dream real, you are the man.

GREAT idea! yes it does take some time but perfectly functional!
the rear of the bike does NOT weight 1/2 the bike weight. most of the weight is centered in the middle and towards the front, where the gas tank and motor is located. it's not that difficult to lift ther rear off the ground.

it should be stable as lucky13 stated because he is using the exact lifting point as a standard stand.
