re-pa-tri-ate

Pronunciation: (
v.rē-pā'trē-āt" or, esp. Brit., -pa'-;
n.rē-pā'trē-it or, esp. Brit., -pa'-), [key]
v.t., -at•ed, -at•ing,
n.

TO RETURN TO ONE'S OWN COUNRTY ----

Did you know that until 1848 California, New Mexico and other portions of the Southwest were internationally recognized provinces of free Mexico, until the U.S. decided it wanted those provinces, declared war on Mexico, and stole them? ask yourself : "Who are the real illegal in California?"

OK make ya a deal. anyone born before 1848 can get an American citizenship.

Illegals Are the people that were born after 1848 that crossed American borders without proper paperwork to become a citizen!!

Maybe it's because the illegals are the only ones that think that they have chance?

Question 1: You go to Chinatown, do you expect everyone there would know English?
Question 2: If you want to speak the native language of the country, why aren't we speaking some American Indian language?
Question 3: Do you think that all of a relatives that came over from other countries could speak the language immediately?
Question 4: Why are you so intolerant to others?

I just noticed this: "At my store i get a ton of asians..the Koreans are the worst of the asians though.."

I'm actually Korean. I was born somewhere around Seoul, Korea. The only problem I have with your statement, is that it paints the same disparging viewpoint that people paint on EVERY other race that is not their own. The United States is one of the most culturally diverse nations of the world, you would think there would be some tolerance towards others, but instead we say how much we hate each other. We say so many others as being rude. We think they are backwards. We don't account for the difficulties of learning a new language in the later years in life. Do we not account for the fact that certain nuances in our language doesn't translate to theirs or vice versa? It reminds me of the movie, "Lost in Translation" where Bill Murray is listening to a Japanese director says something that takes about 30 seconds and the translator just says, "He wants you too look at the camera." A foreign person have a lot of trouble getting the inflection in the voice that is used extensively in English to convey feeling. You hold it against them, that they weren't taught English as a small child. You hold it against them that they came to our country to try and make a better life for themselves. What about your relatives? What about the French, the Italians, the Irish and every single person that has come through Ellis Island. How many of those hated one another because of some trumped up hatred that probably started because some one didn't say "Bless You" the right way when they sneezed.

Another good example of being lost in translation:
[blockquote]"So let's see what happens when you translate Half-Life 2 into other languages (and back again). Babelfish.altavista.com, take it away!

G-Man, In Russian
Original: "Rise and shine, Mr. Freeman. Risa and shine. Not that I wish to imply that you've been sleeping on the job. No one is more deserving of a rest and all the effort in the world would have gone to waste until, well, let's just say that your hour has come again. The right man in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world. So wake up, Mr. Freeman. Wake up, and smell the ashes."
Translation: "Lift and shine, Mr. freyeman. Lift and shine. Not that I deserve to imply that you they slept on the work. No one to more deserve rest and completely the effort in the world not to go to rastochitel'stovavt to, in the best way, let's exactly to say that you will be hour they came again. Right person in the incorrect place can introduce changes completely in the world. So wake up. Mr. freyeman. Wake up, and smell by ashes."

Barney, In Japanese
Original: "I've been working undercover with civil protection. Can't take too long as I'm already behind on my beating quota."
Translation: "I directly citizen protection and undercover am to work. When rear already it is in the allotment which I strike me you take simultaneously excessively long, it is not possible"

Dr. Kleiner in Korean
Original: "Great Scott! Gordon Freeman! I'd have expected more warning."
Translation: "Company one Scott! Gordon free, man! Me warning will forecast compared to theyn the place."
[/blockquote][blockquote]- Darren Gladstone, Games for Windows magazine, August 2007, Issue 09, page 100

Oh and for what it counts...I think English should be the default language in the United States. I am Asian (South Korean), w

#1 They should! to be part of this country you would think one would want to learn the commonly used language.

#2 English is the commonly used language. Native Americans as we all know were not part of making this country and were forced out, pushed to the side.(can't change the past) that is why we gave em all these damn casinos. I j/k

#3 No, but that is the topic here. were not helping by translating/speaking spanish. so there is no need to learn english.

#4 Intolerant.....When you don't try why should we be tolerant. Were in this problem cause wewere tolerant and it has came back and bit us in the ***.

Bunch of racists. Lets see, where my dad is from they speak german. Where my mom is from they speak Spanish. My brother speaks all three.

English is not an offical language of the United States. In Hawai'i the official language is Hawaiian. In any ethnic part of a city, guess what, all you english speakers would be sorely out of place.

It comes down to that immigrants made this country great. They did this by assimilating into the culture, but still keeping the best parts of theirs.

However, just like in the1980s when a company had a hard time with half of its computers being IBM and the other half Apples, this country is going to have a hard time since it will be fractured by language. Without communication there can be no progress.

Are you racist? Do you discriminate? Do you think you are better than everyone else in this world? Are you offended because someone has a Scottish accent? Do you think you are better than blacks? Do you think you are better than women? Maybe you have blue eyes...because, you know...all blue eyed people cause all the trouble.

I concede that English is the most commonly used language in United States, but it is not the only. To learn a new language is far more difficult as an adult than a child. In terms of the world, the most commonly used language is Mandarin. [ul][*]1120 Million speak Mandarin.[*]480 million speak English[*]332 million speak Spanish[*]235 million speak Arabic [/ul]I think you should be able to speak Mandarin to be a part of this world, since, it is the most spoken language in the world. So, why don't you get the hell off my planet, since you don't speak it.

As for the language in the United States, I understand your point of view. I don't think it's a matter of tolerance, but business that drives this. Considering that there are so many Spanish speaking individuals in this world and in the United States, it makes good business sense to have accessiblity to those other cultures.

I have a client that has alot of vehicles in the Miami-Homestead area and when I gat a call from a shop down there it's like I'm dealing with a differant country. Anytime I get a call from a 305 or 954 area code I know it's not going to be an American on the line. I have no desire to vist south Florida.
