Petition for LANE SHARING on Motorcycles.

I see both sides of it. I totally agree that I should have the right to do it as long as I'm not endangering others. Having said that, I don't think I'd be doing it. I had no issues at all doing it when I lived in Europe. But the drivers over there are far, far more accepting of people on 2 wheels than those here in the USA.

Exactly my point.
It's a requirement here to ride with your lights on (bikes) BECAUSE WE ASKED FOR IT TO BE MADE LAW ! Helmets are required everywhere.
I understand your need to "have the right to choose" Demon. Be it helmets or anything else. Unfortunately people don't always make the right choices and the law has to step in for the good of the majority (whoever they are.) Darwin tells us.........
I just wish we had your 2nd Amendment
And yes, it seems you petition isn't going to have the desired effect !
Pity.

Natural selection? Really. I too get a chuckle when people relate someone doing something stupid to being taken out of the 'gene pool' but really... Making a 'stupid person' wear a helmet isn't going improve the human race as a whole. If you know intelligence is genetic than prove it and collect your nobel prize.
BTW, natures process doesn't include motorcycle accidents. We are so far off what 'natures process' should be that its a moot point. Just look at the increase in average age over the past 500 years.

Let's not confuse education with intelligence.
I made that mistake years ago.
Played chess with a man with limited education and a low level job.
He kicked my ***........
Lesson learned.
I don't believe intelligence can be quantified for motorcyclists, by cagers.
They believe we're all morons with a death wish. LoL
I don't know how many Nobel prize winners ride bikes..........
Maybe their theory is correct about us.....

Sir Paul M Nurse , 2001 Noble Prize Winner (with Leland Hartwell & Tim Hunt)
would be one
But to be fair I must point out the man did start out working in a small lab
run by none other than Guinness before being eventually accepted by Birmingham Uni'.
Proof Guinness, Brains & Bikes are a good combo'.

"A stocky, ebullient figure, he has wallowed in the trappings of the good life.
He used his Nobel prize money to buy a powerful motorbike – and still rides
a Kawasaki 500 – and has a share of a plane which he flies when living at the
family home which he has maintained in Oxfordshire."
See Pete it's never too late to be nominated
Lane sharing in Maine would just leave riders with a nice Chevron Shaped
groove on their back imo
