I'm like a G-dog on the fly tip.
WHAT THE HELL IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN!?!? (money talks muhaha)

but yeah, dont buy piece by piece.. if your gonna build a PC - save up and buy it all at once.. because if you just upgrade things one by one, your gonna have bottlenecks everywhere and gets annoying as F***. the only thing for upgrades is SLi and more RAM..

i seriously say hold out till novemeber (i know that sh*t is far away but it will go fast) this will be your best bet to get an awesome deal and price drops.. it's all up to you, but that's what im waiting for. it's just my 2 cents..

I know what your talking about but this new pc wont go together till all pieces are here. The PC that I'm on now I built more than a year ago and it runs ddr1 ram. So only the usual will transfer like the harddrives and PSU. I might fire it up with the sli 7800's I have but who knows.

I just ran that and the cpu test was going 0-1 frames the first time and 1-2 the second time. LOL The cpu scored a 4214 on PCmark05.

On 3Dmark06 I scored a 5318

I've been reading article after article about the difference between the 320mb and the 640mb. The 640mb does make a difference. Maybe not much now, but when games more demanding than Bioshock (maybe UT3) come out later on in life, it'll be all good with the 640mb.

Unless your running resolutions 1600x1200 that extra 320mb wont help anything. Video memory and system memory doesn't work the same way. That memory is just to process textures the rest of the game is in the system memory. Even if you do run past 1600x1200 you may as well save a bit more money and SLI or Crossfire it.

Edit: The 320 out preforms the 640

Just seeing that you know. When you go SLi, you dont add the memory together. You still have what you had with the one card. So if I get a 320mb card, then go SLi, I still have 320mb.

Just making sure you know that.

On the link you gave me, of course the 320mb beats the 640mb. Its overclocked. The GTS cards are made at 500MHz core/1600MHz mem from factory, then the companies do what ever they want to them.

Look at the non overclocked 320mb and 640mb. The 640mb beats the 320mb.

My current rig (just upgraded last month)

Motherboard:
DFI Lanparty UT NF590
Hard Drive(s): 2 - Seagate Barracuda 320 GB in RAID 0 ($79)
Video: EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 640MB
Monitor: ViewSonic VX2835WM Piano Black (27.5" 5ms Widescreen running at 1920 x 1200 )
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 FX-62 (was on sale the day I bought it...$199. Now back at $450)
Memory: Crucial Ballistix 2GB ( now on sale: 69.99 after MIR)
Power Supply: Antec True Power Quattro 850 ATX (was on sale for $140 after MIR at CompUSA sale ended last Saturday)
CD:
Samsung 18X DVD+-R DVD Burner w/ Lightscribe
Asus Black SATA DVD-ROM
Case: Cooler Master Centurion 5
Mouse: Logitech G7 Wireless "Laser"

Makes sure you have a large enough powersupply.. I had bought the Rosewill 800 originally from New Egg, but it died during a LAN party the week I built the system. NewEgg is shipping the replacement, but I bought the Antec PS which is much better in my opinion. Also picked up a 1500va Battery backup. I need to pickup another for my cable modelm and router.

The processor I bought was top of the line dual core from AMD. I figure that they can only get better and the price was excellent.

i built mine like a few months ago and if u get any video card get the 8800. but i think u should wait till the geforce 9800 comes out and the new AMD cpu that is also ganna come out.

IF U CAN WAIT. MAKING A PC NOW IS A WAST OF $$$$$$ if u want a top of the line one.

Yes, on everything 1600x1200 and up. Did I not say that earlier.
