Default One of those slippery spots in the road again

Taking a sweeping 90*, it was a long curve so I was doing about 40-45mph through it, speed wasn't so much a factor as the part where right in the middle of the curve the front slid outside on me. Not all the way but I'd say a few inches so once it grabbed it disoriented the whole front end, I hung on to it for a little longer(lucky too...otherwise I would have hit the guardrail and those damn I-beams that go into the ground). The bike kept goin straight out of the turn and ended up in a ditch, unfortunately the ditch was filled with those rocks they use to contain water or something, about the size of softballs so that kinda hurt. I had on my fieldsheer mesh jacket, steel toe boots, kbc force rr helmet, jeans(yea I know I'm a ****in squid that needs to be head to toe leather)and a pair of gloves. Besides a little jacket rash on my left elbow, a severely bruised left hip and a light bit of rash from my jeans on my inner left leg there's nothing else. Just stood up afterwards, took my helmet off(which btw was beat to hell...my bike hit me twice in the head as I went down, shield was ripped off too), checked myself over and took a look at my bike. When you wear all your gear and go down like that...which I will say was a pretty violent experience...you really don't care too much about the bike until you get released from the hospital and realize your pelvis isn't fractured. Sleeping and showering sucks ***** but other than that I'm glad to be ok. No helmet or jacket and it may very well have been a different story.

Fellas, when people on here are being ***** about gear it's because after the fact it seems pretty ridiculous that people have been killed from a lot less of a bike accident simply because they didn't put on a helmet. Skin grafts be damned, that's your choice but for anyone that may come upon the scene of the accident...they don't want to see your cranium shattered all over the road.

Fortunately out here in bum **** the first people to stop stayed for at least an hour and he worked for a tow truck biz so he was able to get my bike home and a volunteer EMT stopped and dressed my wounds.

What would be a "I wrecked" thread without pics of the damage, I'll get a few shots of my helmet and jacket later but here's the bike.

and a video to show how awesome honda is...all my lights and crap works. there was a bit of oil in the engine after lying on its side for like 3 hours but it ran out after a little.

Yea, I know I'm long winded...in a nutshell: I wrecked, it hurt but I'm fine, wear a helmet, pictures. haha Ride smart.

I couldn't walk very well until I had some ibuprofens in me later on so I couldn't walk the 120 or so feet to the spot where it slipped to look at it but I think it may have been that some loose asphalt patching gravel. I noticed after being on that road for a little that it was littered with patch spots.

I got the bike tore down and have assessed the damage. I already had an 01-03 tail setup in the back of the house so that's good. the upper fairing is trash, the upper stay bracket is garbage, left fork is bent but I'm gonna replace the whole dealio(both forks, triples) for good measure. Front fender, clutch cable, and windscreen. Not as bad as it looks but both of my side fairings have minor rash that can be filled and re-vinyled so this will give me an excuse to do it up with an F4i front end[sm=badbadbad.gif]

I was gonna buy a leather jacket here soon too. However, my mesh jacket held up really well, there was one rip on the forearm but it didn't go through the second layer. The elbow pads and shoulder pads helped a lot.

Those gravel spots suck. they never put up signs to let you know they are there and then out of nowhere.... gravel in the road where there shouldnt be. I've also ran into the tar strips they put down to fill in cracks. those buggers are slippery too. It would be nice if the road commisions around would consider motorcylces too.

I know you know this.... but I gotta say it anyway... Do not ride with that helmet again... replace it.

Same. I looked down at the pic first...omg. Heartbreaking.

Except I disagree on the jeans and squids thing...squids wear shorts, sandals, the lot. I feel safe enough in denim, but I refuse to ride without my boots and gloves, jacket and helmet to go with.

Sure glad you had protection.
