RE: oh hai
have all the bugs been worked out yet? kinda find it funny to start enforcing a "code of conduct" without getting all the bugs fixed....seems like trying to fix the rudder of the boat when there is a huge hole in it at the same time.......
Edit: OK I got off track. But after reading the Code of Conduct I do have some concerns, yes this is a motorcycle forum, but specialization for the sake of being specialized is questionable. Example, what if every restaurant only served one specific meal. Yes some are mainly Italian or Chinese, but you can always stray a little. Aside from a pizza shop, that also serves calzones or strombolis, most places are far less specialized. Most business aspire to be diversified, but still maintain quality, the reason being is for convenience and overall patron satisfaction. Rarely are they told to go somewhere else to get what they want because we decide not to serve it here anymore. Those businesses fail because of the 80/20 rule. You get 80% of your business from 20% of the people. It also costs 5 times more to get a new customer than keep an old one.
So what I am wondering about is there are a few changes that need to be made. Yes post whoring exists, but who really cares? Hot wife, cleavage...very popular, but harmless. But really, aforum about, and only about CBRs is really too specialized. To distill this thought to it purest form would be to just publish each shop manual online and just have the troubleshooting section.
What make this forum great is the idle banter in Off Topic, motorcycles are fun to ride, but to read and write about them is boring unless they need to be fixed. There are onlyso many slip on, tires, oil or PCIII threads that need to exist. So after that it is really just superfluous, everything should be found by a search. Really just a basic internet search would be even more effective than a CBRF search and then that begs the question, why does CBRF exist at all?
I guess we will see how this plays out, but by seriously curtailing the most popular section, I really expect changes for the worse and not the better. Some other forum will pick up the slack and bee grateful for the traffic. CBRFcould just become a place to welcome new members that willnever participate (80/20 rule) and that entertaining veteran members will not be here to keep them thus ending the cycle.

Fish = don't fret dude. Only thing that will change is that those with very little to say but comments about anything and everything will be restrained. And now if you peeps would actually read this next little bit:
So how is it that not discussing tootsie pops or burned eggs is going to run off the long time members? I have not wrapped my mind around what the big scare is. You will end up with a more organized forum and the catch all OT section will not see posts roll off the page every 2 minutes with idiotic threads.
Contrary to popular belief, CBRF is a motorcycle forum and as such every post in every section in every area should at least vaguely be motorcycle related. This is not to say you can not post a thread wishing a member happy birthday or congrats on a baby or the like. There will still be some leniency in Off Topic for threads of general interest to the majority of the members. So if you post up a top ten things to do with green snot thread do not be surprised or hurt when it goes missing and you are contacted by the staff.

The way I see it is Off Topic is called "Off Topic" and not "Anything goes" ..thats the difference here, people keep saying but its what off topic is for and to a degree I agree but lately it has been about anything goes, no matter how inane ..we need to give this a chance to work guys ... I think Off topic will still be fun and have good threads that are interesting to read but to get to them you wont have to wade through all the tons of "Im bored today" style posts ...

Hey, wait a minute...that burned egg thread was mine because I sat at the forum too long. It was forum related! Yeah, your right, no one is interested in my little minute bit of life (no sarcasm). IĀ“ll refrain from posting.
I doubt the changes imposed are that big of a change, but hell, if the threads start dying off, then there will be little interest left. Well, I guess we'll see what happens.
