Thanks guys!

My buddy Blake and I arrived here safe n' sound about 9:00 last night. We were running a little late so we went straight to the bike night at the moonlite diner. The turnout was kind of disappointing (compared to what it usually is), but still able to see quite a few people. Nobody knew I was coming except for a couple people, so it was a surprise visit for the most part.

Anyways, between Blake and I both snapping pics along the way, there should be a nice write up with LOTS of pics!! I'm just kinda hanging around here today... meeting up with a buddy for lunch and he's gonna let me ride his '08 CBR 600RR[sm=bounceybounce.gif] Blake left about 8:30 this morning and headed down to the Florida Keys.

In the meantime... here's a few pics from the ride down

7:30 am... leaving my house in N. GA, 37 degrees, raining, and windy. Perfect weather for a roadtrip on the bike! It ended up raining for the first 3 hours of the trip, and didn't warm up until after the rain stopped just north of Valdosta

Orlando turnpike service plaza.... It warmed up nicely to a toasty 85 degrees[:-] We had stripped all our raingear and cold weather gear back in Valdosta, GA right after a massive warmup. I was getting pretty hot in my leathers with the thermals underneath

Too bad it's gonna be a loooong and booooooring one though (and from the AM forecast... a cold and wet one too).... oh well. And I'm headed back to the land I hate so much.... south Florida[&:]

Long.... straight.... boring. Roughly 11 hrs, and 654 miles according to google maps. God how I always look forward to making this trip.... again [:@]

if only i could ride at all. been under 10 degrees for the past 2 months, and a total of about 5 feet of snow +/-. i cant believe your dreading a ride. id work 8 hours of overtime for free just to go on that trip.

I hear ya... But nah I wasn't dreading the ride itself, it's just that I've done this same route sooooo many times, I wish there was another route to take just for a change of scenery, but there really isn't. I mean I can name every single turnpike service plaza by name from Leesburg to Homestead, in order top to bottom or bottom to top. That's about a 350 mile stretch. Whether on the bike or in a car, I'm just sick of this same route over and over and over again... that's all. I'm always glad to be able to ride!

But anyways.... it's most definitely warm here alright!! Actually having record highs around 88. Supposed to be 84 today though.

It was nice yesterday... my buddy and I went to the beach [8D]

My buddy Blake just called me a few minutes ago and said he's back home safely... and rather tired, lol. That boy is crazy... he left my dads house at 8:30 am yesterday and rode all the way down to Key West, and then turned around and headed straight back to Atlanta. He rode all night long and got up there about 10:00 this morning [:-] Freakin' hardcore!! I'll be back home monday night. Should be lots of pics to come..... probably from both of us!

After 11 hrs... I was fine I was glad when we got there and was able to take a break for awile. But I wasn't dying or anything, just ready for a break. The '08 was VERY nice!! It feels alot different from my bike! Extremely smooth and responsive. The tank really contours to your legs and knees... they just kinda fit in one little spot there. Pegs are alot higher, and actually 'feel' farther forward than mine (which doesn't make much sense... but that's what it felt like). It feels light as hell though, and very much flickable!! He said he'd let me ride it on the dragon too when he comes up that way. Overall I really really liked it though!! Oddly enough, after we got finished eating at Cracker Barrel, he let me ride it and we went over to Rick Case Honda to look around. Oddly enough, the same place I bought my bike at 3 years ago. So yea, he lets me ride his nice brand new bike over to the Honda dealer. I told him... "WTF are you trying to do to me?? You know what happened the last time I came here 'just to look around'???" LOL

Anyways, had a great time at the picnic today! A little warm out but not too bad... had a real good turnout!

We have a raffle of some sort every time, and every time we rig part of it. This year we wanted to give our token Asian brother a special bumper sticker [8D]

is it challenging to ride with all of your stuff on the back of your bike? i mean its probably like a passenger and as long as you center it up you should be ok..but it just looks hard to me, the reason i ask is cause im taking about a 1k mile trip here in a few months and i am trying to figure out a way to haul some stuff!! cause a tank bag just wont be enough.

Nah it's not hard at all riding with it on there. It weighs nowhere near what a passenger would weigh. When I've used saddlebags in the past (fully loaded) along with a tailbag fully packed, it was pretty heavy. I could tell it was back there but didn't make it harder or anything. Just the tailbag and the backpack though are almost nothing. Only thing difficult is getting on and off the bike, since you can't really swing your leg over. Just gotta kinda lift it straight up an over the front seat. Take a lil getting used to at first but after you do it enough times and remember that the stuff is back there, it's no big deal

Well I'm back home safe n' sound from my trip Just got in a little after 9pm. Not too bad, considering I was in West Palm Beach, FL at 10:45am today, lol. No problems... bike ran absolutely flawless so I guess last weekends surgery was a success, LOL. Beautiful weather for the ride back with no rain so that was nice, and I found a homeless puppy too that I may go back and pick up.

Anyways, I'm ready for some sleep now.... I'll post up all the pics and a ride report later on this week sometime
