No point in the 45 GAP. Damn near same ballistics, so why?? All that round does is make picking up brass a chore for us reloaders gathering 45 ACP. Plus, 45ACP is as common and bread and butter in most stores as the GAP is not.. Simply a propriety product to boost sales. Just simply reinventing the wheel so to speak.

Thats what I thought.
Reviews promote the ballistics and the gaining popularity. Is it marketing propaganda?
I don't see it gaining popularity. Probably the samewiththe .357SIG.
Anyone remember the 10mm Auto?

The 357Sig is a very potent and usefull round. And the 10MM is AWESOME. Probably the only auto-loading round suitable for hunting, very hot-stuff. (not the only, but very adequate) I have a springfield omega in 10MM, very nice pistol, love the round. The GAP was mostly for the kids on Glocktalk.com and the koolaid drinkers. For High-cap, I'll go with .40S&W, 90% the ballistics of a 45ACP with the same energy transmission, but the added value of high-cap like a 9x19. I have a custom STI wide body, hard-chromed and blued 1911, almost as thin as a gov model but it holds 18+1 of .40. I use it or my Para for IDPA. But for ole faithfull, gimmie my 5" 1911 GI, ole slab-sides. Can't go wrong

Im thinkin of gettin a gun myself, but a rifle. Like to do some good ol target practice and such. Makes me feel like a sniper. Any suggestions on a good rifle? Ive looked around some and am thinking about a 30-06.

A 30-06 can be pretty brutal on recoil, depending on the set-up, plus the rounds are expensive to shoot, and also to reload. Sure, it was a surplus military cartridge years ago, but that ammo is far from quality for accuracy. I'd go with a .308. I say that cause if you mentioned 30-06, the .308 is a close runner up. Tons of cheap surplus for practice and easy to load for. Not cheap ammo for competition or serious use, but depends on what your going for. I measure success by .001 of an inch, so I'm kinda picky on what I load and shoot. But, for a good .308 theres the classic Rem 700 design, but if you don't want to spend the money, yet get as good of a rifle, go with a savage long range precission varminter in 308. button rifled barrel, super heavy 1 3/4 in free floated barrel, and the accu-trigger tuned down to 1/4lb, complete with a choate stock and your golden for some serious long-range work. But...keep in mind....youll spend as much on quality optics as you did your rifle. To not do so would be like putting Pep-Boys special tires on a ferrari, youd be selling yourself short. All in all, you could get a nice set-up for around 1K that would be some nice gear, ready to go.

My Dad's got an M-14, 8mm mauser, and a 30/30, and a couple of cheapo Asian-made assault rifles. The 30/30 is my favorite one to shoot. It makes me feel like a cowboy (and not the gay dude from the village people, either). For plain *** target practice and plinking, I would get a .22. They are inexpensive to buy, low recoil, and you can shoot a zillion rounds for cheap! All in all, just a lot of fun for goofing around.
