wow that ride2die site made me realize something....

how much i hate cagers. i am sure some of those were riders fault going to fast or what not but i bet most were cagers being dumb. these people who drive not caring about what happens to others i hope drift off the road hit a tree and die. i have said it before but people who are driving carlessly have no concern for human life just as a murderer. i would not care if they all wrecked and died not taking out anyone but their selves. i would not shed a tear even if i knew them. i would rather them all wreck and die than them kill me or a family member.

Way to protect your mom by suggesting she wears gear [sm=smiley20.gif], no matter how good you are you'll never be too good to wear a helmet and/or other protective gear. A lot of HD riders may not wear helmets for whatever reason, they also go to the bars and get **** drunk and ride home, so they aren't something to model after! The leather jacket and gloves she got probably won't provide much protection either, I'd tell her to either return them if she still can or invest in some actual riding gear with some actual protection!

i think the sight has good intentions..and it is indended to scare people at first..but after the first 2 days of initial shock from seeing what happened to some people..i went out and bought an Icon jacket and some new gloves..relizing that you cant be to safe..it may not save my life in some of those situations. but it definatly helped out when i wrecked mine. i had my icon jeans on to, and i had maybe 5% of my body rashed. and that was a good feeling..it didnt help all the broken bones..but road rash is sometimes just as bad.

I went through the same thing with my mother, She rides a HD softtail (used to have sportster 1200) for the longest time she would wear a Novelty helmet (small, plastic) just so she was " wearing a helmet" for johnny law. but after some time i finally convinced her to at least get a dot approved helmet, and i bought her a plain black mesh jacket with all the armor in it.
Its a weird/nervous feeling to see my mother pull out on a motorcycle even though shes been riding longer me, I know exactly how parents feel seeing their kids leave on bikes.

I love this idea. Cyber, can you afford to buy her a helmet or a jacket? If you can, she may feel some obligation to wear it (especially if she knows you spent your hard earned money to get it). If not, you need to put your foot down and say something to tug on her heart strings. Try something like, "You spent your whole life making sure I was safe. I want to do the same for you". Maybe that would work. Make sure she wears her f_cking gear!!! Keep us updated, please.

+1 on giving her a jacket Idea. she might also get some of that under clothes protection that stunters use. the chest guard (they come specially talored to women's shape), and the elbow pads. That way she might still use her "fassionable" clothes to go out with the harley hubby, but still be safe.

The ride to die site says its porpouse on the bottom. When they had only a site with tips, and advise on keeping riders safe, they got mabe 100 hits a month. As soon as the guts and goare apeared on the site they got more than 3000 hits a day. People are atracted by that sh..t and if it helps them get more attention to the site, then that's what they did.

I know the first time I saw the site i was soo shoked, I went and got better gear the next day. I used to wear motox gloves, because the armour on the street and sport bike ones made them stiff. After seeing the site, ill take stiff, heavy and hot gear over road rash and broken parts any day.

so seeing that site probably saved my life in my crash...

I know the horror of family members riding without proper gear. My dad gets on his Harley with, quite literally, 1/8 of the gear I wear. The only thing motorcycle specific he wears while riding is a helmet. [:@] He just doesn't get it no matter how much I preach. Damn idiot makes more in a month than I did in an entire year and he won't gear up. I've taken him to gear shops, but he just finds reasons not to spend money.

I'm going to forward that site to him.
