Congrats Raven -- sounds like you've got a damn good head on your shoulders. I completely respect your honesty.

meh...i used to wash dishes and it was by far probably the suckiest job i had. anywhere from 10-18 hours shifts of nothing but left over half-eaten-finger-poked-plates. ever had your hands in water for 12+ hours? talk about water logged, so bad they hurt. not to mention its greasy water. anyways, if we were not so busy all the time it wouldnt have been so bad. just my personal dishwashing experience.

Hey, another NM rider! (there's not many "smart" ones around here.) I was about to ride up to Ruidoso today, but it was getting late, and didn't want to trek the 2 hour trip home down that road in the dark.

Hit me up if you ever want to ride around Las Cruces/Alamo area.

I met with the Big Dogs, up on the Mountain today. Here is what I learned:
I'm qualified to become a "Pro Patroller", now I have to get certified.
I get certified by attending a course, buying some books, and passing tests. From now until late Oct.
CPR Card.
Pay $85.00 US dues to join National Ski Patrol.
Purchase a very red jacket with a white cross on it.
They didn't hate me. Oh, and I see Mr. Yee again on Monday at 4:00 pm. There'll be some greasy dishes with my name on them.Pax,G.

For my Son.
This is my thread. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
KidCr3nshaw...You pose a fair query and I hope we can be friends. I spent the whole day, driving my ("LITA") Ford product today. Albuquerque and back, thinking about your posts. In the first one...How does a Ranger become a dishwasher? I never told any one this, but it is a matter of public record that my carrer ended the day I lost the patronage of a (my) Bigdog. I lost said patronage due to a letter of complaint from a Marin County pet-owner thatI'd issued a citation to. Ironically, in the letter, I'm quoted, quoting my Field Trainig Officer. I'll never forget it.
CBR means...Falling is easy, just let go.

In the second post How the heck does a dishwasher get a walk on to a dreamjob? I know, it's a crazy world, good is bad, smart is dumb, The Terminator is Governor of California! But I think We're onto something cool, here. The answer really is CBR. Sure it'sabout courses, books, exams, and skiing, and job interviews, but it's also about Human Kindness. It's about beeing Free 'n' Clean! (love you ripp'n!) It's about the key to happiness. It's about getting what you want outtathis strange place.
CBR means:
1.) Figure out what you want.
2) Find out what you need (to get what you want.).
3) Do what you can do (to get what you need, to get what you want.).
4) Get what you need (to get what you want).
5) Get what you want.
6) Decide it's not really what you wanted, after all.
7) Lose it.
8) Start all over again.

So, kid, it's like you and I have stumbled upon the meaning of life, a Transmorgrifier, and it's CBR. Like I say, I hope we can be friends. If not, and if nobody hears from me again, I'll be in the Missouri River with a pair of Cement Galoshes, and a bottle of Dr. Pepper.

Voodoo-dude...Man, you floor me. On my home planet, we play 3-D Chess as a pastime. I just won a 21-Year long gamevs. my ex-wife.[8D] On the way home from ABQ tonight, my son fell asleep to a good dose of Abbey Road. He's tucked in bed now, and tomorrow we're to see Jacki Chan ! Since the day He was born, my number one job is Dad. I want to do the job your Dad did. You honor Him, sir, and Superheroes everywhere! If my Son learns anything from my thread, I pray it's from your post. Go Fudgerammers!

Wildcat...I dunno if I've got a good head on my shoulders, but I know my head's on my shoulders good. The Doc bolted it on real well. Thanks for your support, this is near to me.

BlueFox...Nice Bike! Free-Thinkers get tarred and feathered around Lincoln Co. so let's just keep this our little secret. Code word is "CBR". No, Do Not ride Sierra Blanca inna afternoons, with Thunderstorms like clockwork! Lightning strikes are close and scary. Rained every day since I got here, two months ago. Wuz Gonna ride out to the Very Large Array (VLA), as a day trip, and wecould meet at Socorro. Also, Iwanna take my son down to the bullfights in Juarez within the next couple of weeks, and we'll pass through 'Cruces if you wanna come with us. Jus' PM me.

So, anyway, The answer is "CBR". Pax,G.

...Doors open...one leads to another. In my experiance... God says... Yes, No and wait... all acceptible, w/ the right point of refference. Good for you... the restaurant job, is entirerly respectable...I have put my time in at many jobs... they serve there pourpose, and were a blessing... I think the CBR, was a apart of the overall picture, being the mode of intro, into it... it all fits well... what blows me away is the obvious "grooming" for the ski gig... years of prep, for the timing to become ripe.Typical stuff...in my experience. Congrats!!!!!
Free and clean, Ripp'n

Just an update, for you naysayers. You were right! I lasted two weeks, washing dishes. My hands are cut, scalded and bleeding.
