My CBR got me my dream Job today!
Congrats. Hope everything works out for ya. But I have to ask...
With all this experience you have with the great out doors... Why a dish washing job at a chinese place?

So you have a job or an "offer" from some guy you met along the road? Big difference between the two. I thought I had a job with a guy I met one time but it turned out he was all talk. Now, I got into the same company about 8 months later due to another encounter like you decsribe, but it still took me actually interviewing and proving my worth. Jobs normally don't just get handed out like candy.
Wow! This is near to me. You are helping. It's nice.
Ski also plural. Skis also Skiis, also skeez. Skied and Skiing. Whatever, I'm a "Two Planker ******" (Volkl 6-Stars) .Until Maevis found me, nothing hit my joy-joy button like skiing.
rmr1923- Nice rental cabins abound, however they are probly full-up. Ruidosocabins.com could help, but I'd suggest Innofthemountaingods.com (or telephone) for Labor day. I pass by the casino lounge on my way to HR and it is very nice. I don't gamble, so I know nothing else helpful. As to skiing, Angel Fire is further from Lubbock than Ski Apache, with slow backroads most of the way, but there are alot of ski resorts in that area, and Angel Fire has cheaper lift tickets. Ski Apache is closer, Roswell is about halfway. Sierra Blanca Cabins, in Ruidoso, would be my choice for winter lodging. PM me and we'll go fishin'. (Trout)
OldGuy61-Snowbird has the fluffiest powder in the world! SLC is heaven for me because you can fly in to the airport, take a cab to the hill, ski all day and still be home (West o' d'Mississippi) for dinner. You could totally get a job up there. A vagabond lifestyle, coupled with a clear idea (and a tolerance for cold) could be enough to start. Work as a lift operator in the mornings, and practice skiing in the afternoons, perhaps. Build as you go. Figure out where you want to be, and work back to where you are.
MikeInCTown_Thanks for your support. Even if (when) I fall flat on my face, I'll have done my best. That's all I can do, and aim high.
rrasco_If Auntie needs any help, winterizing, PM me. The road is sketchy, with its 1000 ft. dropoff out the passenger window, its infamous! Great place to ride (Wrestle) aCBR, though.Yesterday I had to dump speed in two turns, and I was only going 20 mph to begin with! Mi Casa es Su Casa, Primo.
fishfryer_I practically live at Human Resources ! They are sick of me and my pestering. Mescalero Bonafides aren't something one can puton paper, but I also have a solid gold resume for Ski Patrol, or Instructor. It is a small novel, myFederal Government background check makes for a nice read. Rest assured I'll cross the T's and dot the I's.
TennesseeCBRF Thanks for the support, and sorry about the winter talk. I am most warm and fuzzy when it is cold, dark, wet, and rocky. It's where I'm from. Its gonna suck to pay insurance all winter on a bike I won't ride.
Voodoochyl_Ski Instructor to mostly Texan females is nice dream, don't you think? Stiff upper lip, and all that. Gonna dig down deep and soldier through this. Go Fudgerammers!
CBRCRF_Yes, why Yee's Chinese, indeed. I need a job, now, for the mortgage, but It doesn't have to pay much. Alimony helps, but it's not enough. I'm a high school dropout (expelled, actually, halfway through ninth), with no college and I'm only available part time. I gotta see my son on weekends. Until my recent divorce, I was a self-employed Bead Seller for a decade. My people kills need dusting off. So, for now a low profile job lends itself to my probability of success. Its safe.
christhek_I'm a wild animal, and so, historically I don't do so well, in life, going through regular channels. Meeting Owen has just enhanced my ability to succeed, put me on a faster track, so to speak. Good luck is just making the most of opportunity.
So, wow. I've always been impressed by the amount of energy you all put into this Forum. I have nothing but respect for all of you. What's your "Dream Job" Pax,G.

I have to tell you guys something about dishwashing. My dad is the smartest man I have ever known. He was bestman at my wedding because, in my opinion, heis the finest example of a man I can think of. Taught me to love the Beatles, Hendrix, chess, shooting, literature, was a Vietnam Vet, got his BA in Psychology, worked for the state of Oregon for 25(?) years. His post retirement dream job...dishwasher. His favorite job ever...dishwasher. He says his brain can roam free between loads (daydream), no overwhelming corporate/political bull****,quantifiable results at the end of the day, and lowwww stress. You could gain the world but lose your soul. Happiness is payment in itself!
That's what retirement is all about, Voodoo!
Just seems strange that the best dude could come up with for an income (not a supplemental, "for fun" job) was a dishwashing position. Then he gets a walk-on to a ski patrol unit... just strange is all I'm saying.

wow, raven. you sound more than qualified. i didnt realize your age. see, i am 20 and about to graduate college. I am pretty street smart and I always hear my friends talk about how they are going to get so and so job when I know for fact that they are not even close to qualified. i always have to play devil's advocate and tell them that it just isnt reality, however, with you, raven, I am sure that this job it right up your alley.
