We do get snow up here in winter and sometimes it's totally impassable ...

Then they are probably for helping the snow plows find the road again. How much snow do you guys need to call a road "impassable"?

Here is what they are for ... look at the bottom road ... see how steep it drops from the road?? ..

they are not barriers ..merely reflective markers ... refective paint and a red refector on top ... it gets pitch black up here at night ..don't you guys have cats eyes??
