Motorcycle Armor Vs Textile Jacket?
So all the riding I do is from work to home and home to work... its about a 4 min. ride give or take depending on what lights I hit...
I enjoy the short rides... speeds get up to 30 max... which gives me some level of comfort as I have no riding jacket or such.... my question is this i have seen ALOT of affordable body armor I could wear under a hoodie or jacket for my short ride... I realize that yes if i go down the road will rip right through it... but if i had armor underneath wouldnt that give me a okay end result? just contemplating is all... lemme know what you guys think |
from bumps and bruises yea, not nadda for road rash which is what really hurts ;)
To me the leather or textile is more important than the armor! |

I'd rather break my arm than grind it down to the bone.
Get a nice riding jacket...you wouldn't believe how CHEAP some of them are if you don't worry about styling. http://www.motorcyclegear.com/street...le_jacket.html http://www.motorcyclegear.com/street...le_jacket.html http://www.motorcyclegear.com/street...le_jacket.html http://www.motorcyclegear.com/street...le_jacket.html http://www.motorcyclegear.com/street...le_jacket.html http://www.motorcyclegear.com/street...le_jacket.html http://www.motorcyclegear.com/street...le_jacket.html I have this one in Blue, fantastic jacket. It's my cold weather jacket and a good summer jacket when you take out the liner and open the vents. http://www.motorcyclegear.com/street...le_jacket.html And that's just from ONE site. Look around...you WILL find a good jacket at a good price. |
__Z__, I am for one , a person that does take some risks. Bear Grylls didnt become famous sitting on his couch! Back on topic.....For short rides I dont see a problem, but bro you have been here long enough to know that 90% of the people here will look down on you for anything other than a jacket.....To many what ifs. Sometimes i would rather get road rash then heat exaustion or heat stroke..... If you cant make it 4 miles from your house on city roads (menus NY type cab roads) then maybe a bike should be motorless and have pedals....

eh i always catch a bunch of flack for everything
and oh I can make it just fine... but precautions never hurt... |
I think at 30mph your not gonna do alot of sliding in a fall. I say just save what you would spend on the armor till you can get a jacket. I got my joe rocket ufo for 160 and it has some good armor and is a tough jacket.
