Default mobile phones and accidents

I dont know what every body else thinks but i Hate people that talk on the mobile phone whilst driving with out a blue tooth or other hands free device i see it all the time Why dont the cops stop them .Then make them put the phone under the wheel of there vehicle and then drive over the top of it as a punishment .I was hit by a b****d talking on the phone a few years ago .I had a driver crash into me and my Knee cap got squashed busted due to it but they ended up paying for a new bike and other things as i had a witnesses but it could have been worse. Why do the cops prefer to nick bikers with a small plate ,tinted visor or going a little over the limit on the motorway what is going on with them . i can't agree with you more. but they cannot stop drivers using cell phones because it is not against the law. its been proposed and talked about but i don't think anything has been done and i don't see any new laws getting passed in the near future.

Latest stats I've read is that distractions are now the #1 cause of wrecks (I don't call 'em accidents because they aren't). In the past alcohol and sleep deprivation were the #1 and #2 causes.

back in 04 mobilepc mag did a comparison between driving while drunk and driving while yakking (on a cellphone) on a closed track with a go-kart ... both results were about the same

I know there are a few of us military riders on here.... We just read our POW (plan of the week) and they are enforcing a $50 fine for driving on base with a mobile phone. This is supposed to be for all bases. So look out for it.
