Memorial Weekend Story

So Saturday morning I found myself up early and at a friends house helping him put a new motor into his truck. A little while into it we needed some gaskets for the project so I gladly hopped on my bike and headed over to the auto parts store. Paying attention to the lone truck in the parking lot I kept my safe distance when parking. When I walk into the store I see one other customer finishing up at one of the registers. I walk up to the counter and got some help locating the gaskets I needed. While being helped the other, said customer, leaves. A moment later I hear that sweet sound of metal on metal followed by the sound of heavy accelerator. I look out the glass door to the store to see my bike...on its side...two spots down from where I'd parked it. That jerk backed out of his spot...then kept on backing up....and evidently decided to back up just a bit more. After knocking down my bike and pushing it about ten feet he evidently decided that he'd backed up far enough and it was time to leave...fast. "That's cool :icon_no:," was about the only thing I could sarcastically muster up to say as I walked out to pick up my crippled bike.

What I learned
- New plastics for my bike cost about $485 from ebay
- The rest of the cosmetic stuff that was beat to death cost another $180
- The store that I was at has no cameras in their parking lot
- The customer before me paid with cash
- And some people are just dirtbags!!!!

I hope everyone else had a great Memorial Day weekend.

Yeah check other businesses in the area / across the street / Down the street in the direction he was heading.

Note the time and check with them.

Get the police involved.

At least around here, people who are at the checker/autozone are regulars.

I'd guarantee the store has cameras on the registers, talk to a manager, get the guys pic, have it posted for the employees, and the next time the guy comes in make sure someone gets his info or plate number.

Car guys are like bike guys, no one likes to have their **** broken and there's honor among greasemonkeys.

I hadn't even thought about hitting up the other businesses around the shop. I'll definitely do that. Great idea! Thanks guys.
