manchester, UK
It looks like I will be spending this winter in Manchester,UK.
I was wondering what to bring as far as cold weather gear.
Where I live the winters drop to -15F (-26C) and sometimes colder.
We get a fare amount of snow and it can get windy.
As far as my schedule goes to date, I should be arriving around November 1st and returning
home late summer of 2009.
Yep! No riding for me for a year, that part sucks.

Why no riding ?
Pick up a good winter hack and have at it, buddy.
It rains, it snows, it sleets, the wind blows and it's generally crappy,
but there are days when it's rideable.
Not much snow in Manchester, just a g.damned miserable place........[X(]
Even the football teams are lousy...........he he

I am sorry ..I really feel for you, I hate that place ..anytime I have had the misfortune to go there it has rained ..it just always seems to be raining there and is more usually just dull and miserable ..built up and souless ... OMG!! ..I would off myself if I lived there ..do you really have to do this?? ...just try and get out of that city as much as possible during the time there ... I find it quite oppressive ..oh I am sorry if I put you off, ack its really lovely there ...no, no ..I cant even lie ..its the pits!!

In the daytime or at nite? Sounds like you should invest in some serious down filled stuff!

I love to ski and spend 8 hours a day out in the stuff. I was in Vemount one day when it was -15F and it was supposed to drop to -35F for the night. I had to make a quick run to pick up a shuttle bus and took a nasty spill on a double black diamond. I broke my goggles, poles and bindings. I smacked my head and could not get up. They had to get me off the mountain with a snowmobile. The Jameson Whiskey and Guinness Stout had kicked my butt that day. I don't mind the cold but I don't think I would have made it through the night. It was 5:00 Pm and a ski patrol was making last runs when he saw me crash from the overhead gondola, I was real lucky that day.
PS, They should not have bars on the top of mountains.

I bet Manchester is still better than where I am now...frigging bollocks I wish I was departing for the UK on an extended visit, too. I'm really good with my hands, maybe I could find work as a man-servant. Or a chimney sweep. I've heard being a sleeping policeman has good benefits. lol

I am used to strolling along beautiful beaches ... I live on a wonderful picturesque canal system, so idyllic ... so I may have a slight downer on cities in general ...you know, maybe, its not so bad there afterall ... no, .. yes, no ..hell it is!! I cant do this I cant pretend .. I will never go there again and *that* will be too soon!! ..lol
