Default Looking for information on insurance jumps after a ticket.

I just got my first ticket on my bike-- 110 in a 65. The cop wouldn't budge on the speed and wanted to take me to jail (thank God he didn't).

Are my riding days done??

My insurance already isn't cheap. $250 a month, and idk that I could take a huge jump in the price after this.

For those who have had tickets, what can I expect the monthly price to do? Thanks in advance. I'm losing my mind here.

Suck it up mate, in NZ you would have your bike impounded for 28 days, so that's at least one month you wouldn't need full cover for.
Insurance companies here tho' don't expect you to run and spill to them every time you get a ticket.
It's just kind of like this embarrassing "Hall of Shame" when you do make a claim and have to tell them about every time you were naughty in the last five years.

In Canada they probably would have taken your bike or if they think it was used in street racing the would crush it.
Also a $2,000 to $10,000 fine and minimum 1 year license suspention for both your motorcycle and car drivers license's.
Best advice is talk to the ticket defender ex-cops places and see what they can do.
It might cost you some money now but be cheaper in the long run.

Don't be surprised if your insurance doubles...
I had a 15km/hr over ticket and when I tried to switch insurance on my truck they want 75% more if I switched with the ticket on my record.

Shew - i'd be more concerned with the court repercussions than the insurance.

I'd probably invest in a lawyer man. There can be some stiff stiff penalties for that kind of speed (at least here in DC/MD/VA area).

Insurance might or might not be notified anyways. I've had it happen where a ticket I received never ended up on any formal paperwork

I would definitely get a good traffic lawyer asap.

While your riding days may not be over, its going to cost you.

Good luck.

Ok first of all you pay way to much for insurance, check out state farm i pay 40 a month for full coverage 500 deductibles. second unless you have a speedo healer your speedometer is off on your bike like they are on most bikes. if your willing to spend the money to have a shop verify that the speedo is off and maybe get a speedo healer cause the courts will want to see that it was fixed or if you know a guy at a bike shop that will be willing to sign off that it was fixed. You have a good chance that the court will either drop the ticket to a faulty speedometer or a non moveing violation pending you have "proof" that the speedo was off and fixed. If your really lucky and get a judge that got laid recently he may even drop the ticket but that one is a long shot, best of luck with it all.

So I basically love the state of Texas. I talked to the court house today and they have a cap on moving violations that is 26mph+... so even though I was doing WAY more than that I get a little break. Couldn't be happier about that.

Now I know the ticket won't be too bad. Here's hoping I'll be as lucky with the insurance.

dont change companies or increase coverage.... depending on your insurer they may not check it.

unless your all state cause they have to see if they are sending you a check...
