Lawful to speed?

I just got another speeding ticket today. I realized today that every officer for the past 3 tickets have all asked me "Do you have a lawful reason to be speeding?" So out of curiosity, when is it lawful to speed? Does this mean there is an absolute answer to get let off? I heard some states allow it for when you're passing, but I never was any of the times and they wouldn't ask unless it was possible right? I'm in California and thanks for any feedback.

I just took an 8 hr saftey course last weekend for my last speeding ticket (74/40)...and.....drum roll........There is never a legal time to exceed the posted speed limit.....is the right answer..

thats exactly what I answered to the officer, that I thought there wasn't any and he had no reply. Maybe they just like to hear what excuses people come up with?

Best thing I have ever heard was I heard my ex wife was back in town, and she drives the exact same car as you.

Honestly though doctors in times of crisis have certain abilities to speed if a persons life is in danger, and they are not greatly jeopordizing others lives. Least thats the way it is in the midwest.

My Personal Favorite is "Do You Know How Fast You Were Goin"And My Response is "Apperently Not Fast Enuff to Lose You!!!"To which they Raise their Eyebrows,Jaws Drop, and Out Comes Every Piece of I.D. I could ever Possibly have.......But it's so worth it to see their Face....

Same in Utah, Telgren. Doctors can speed, run red lights, etc, IF somebody is in desperate need. However they are supposed to call dispatch so the cops know what they are driving and to escort them if possible.
Every speeding ticket I've ever gotten was when I punched it to pass some tard on the freeway. Usually in another state. Hmmm, Screw you NV and ID!:D

that doctor thing sounds like a reasonable one, either way, none of these will help my defense. Thanks guys. Telgren, if South Dakota really only has two twisties, you need to move my friend!

So can I get away with being "The Love Doctor"?
"Sorry officer, but I am the love doctor, and I was on my way to the scene of the crime!"

I got out of a ticket once I was in my truck Dodge Ram 1500 and I was runnin 132mph when he got me (he had a dodge charger) so he cought up to me quick and I pulled over he told me to turn off the truck and I did and he told me to get out and I was like hurry up!

Anyway like 2minutes later he came up to me and asked me "what the F*** is your problem kid?"
I responded with my child is being rushed to the ER and showed him a picture of my little boy (it was the truth though)
and he said ok get out of here try to keep it under 110
Later he showed up to the ER and made sure I was there and I thanked him
