BMG do not feel bad, you probably wouldn't be shocked at the number of individuals that make an effort to enlist in the Marine Corps, that for one reason or another are not eligible. But I'm sure there are those out there that would be. It has always been a branch of the military that would not, just take anybody. Hell we passed on Audie Murphy. Hell, just getting past the ASVAB and getting a good GT score is only part of the battle. That just guarantees your ability to stand on the yellow footprints in doesn't mean you have made the final bus ride. There are plenty that don't make it out of boot camp and then there are other obstacles to pass

I would like to thank you for your support, though because there are plenty who have triedand did not succeed, who just start hating on us at every opportunity. Of course there are those who just bash on us with no knowledge of what it takes to make it or make a career out of it

Good luck with your decision. Hopefully everything comes to you and you can see a path to choose for your future.

How stupid for some to be mad at not being accpeted. I can't, well yes knowing the average person, I CAN believe that.

It was my dumbass fault for a long ago DWI and for being a nut job.

Seriously, I could probably get in the Army, but from talking with a few Marines I know they say that regular Army.

"Most of those guys can't even keep their weapon clean, much less stay ready to fight."

My Grandfather was a Marine in WWII...pacific theater.

He was just proud of me for trying to get in.

I didn't think much about it. Was just something I wanted to try and do.

Anyway, stay safe, wipe those who need killing out and come back.

...Instead of having a bike of the year, i think we should have a rider of the year. If we did, you have my vote hardcorp!! dam man! not many things make me cry, but the way you guys think and act just does...its a proud cry though. god bless you man!!!

12 YR Yes that was my original game plan. A flattopped lifer, LOL, but I have developed a medical condition unrelated to my service and have been exploiting the system to remain in uniform. Until this point, I was given three choices on how to pursue this matter. And I have chose to leave the Marine Corps in good standing with a good RE code and after I have had my surgery and am somewhere near 100% reenlist, which of course will put me well under the old rule of 20/55. The only thing that truly bothers me about the situation is. I am going to have to allow swtpoet to take care of me for a short period of time and I am not happy about having to take advantage of swtpoet like this and realize she is fully capable of the task , but it is not how things should be, but I am not depressed about the situation. I will surpass failure to complete the task at hand. with the other options. I would have been able to in my opinion, freeload off of the Corps. But would have stood little to no chance of ever returning to current duty status and to be 100% honest. I love what I'm doing. I am proud of what I do for a living. And ST, I am one of those individuals who have chosen the path NCO wise. That will allow me to remain in the field. I'm just not the type cut out for administrative duties And there are those within my own family, who don't understand the choices I have made. And as for understanding the mindset. I Think Reagan's summed it up better than most

"Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference. The Marines don't have that problem."
PRESIDENT RONALD REAGAN, 1985

F3 I really appreciate the long-range coverage. Nothing like knowing you're covered at least 180° from a well concealed position. LOL

Of course, right before my surgery I will post a thread letting everyone know, my status, and I would like to thank everyone for their support you are a great bunch of people and a part of the reason I do what I do.Semper Fi for life
