I was hoping they would fix that issue after Katrina came through. Buy out everyone's property and build it up or bulldose it and never build there again.

i'm not quite sure where the below sea level comment came from as gustav wasn't really a new orleans problem, nor were any of the places it affected today below sea level. but the majority of new orleans isn't below sea level. it just happens that a lot of the lower class neighborhoods built outside of the old city ARE. it seems that a lot of people are ignorant to the fact that it wasnt the SEA that flooded new orleans. that was caused by breeches to levee and canal walls, with lake and river water which are 10 and 17 feet ABOVE sea level at this point... not to mention places like houston, which have flooded after hurricanes before, being nearly 50 feet above sea level, or places like iowa flooding from *GASP* levee breeches?!?!?!! sounds familiar to me...
