Just out of curiosity..
What do you guys do to prepare your bike to hibernate over the winter? When do you decide not to ride anymore?
|
Wash it.
Fill it and add fuel stabilizer. Change the oil. Lube the chain. Pull the battery and place it on the tender. Turn out the garage lights and lock the door. |
So.. when it starts to snow? or before that? when it gets way too cold?
|
I stop riding around 50F or 10C. Below that it is just too cold for my old bones.
|
It never gets that cold in Hawaii... why are you considering storing the bike?

it snows here in the winter but you still get some days when the roads are clear so I always keep my bike up and running. but in hawaii........... |
SoCal....here, winter is best time to ride. Cold & dry = better engine performance
|
I was just wondering what people do. No I have no intention of storing my bike. Just like estate4life, cooler winter weather ( meaning in 70s) is good weather to ride as long as no rain.
|
I don't ever prep for winter. I just don't ride if the temp is below 28F.

We can ride year round too ... although I do run and hide in winter if it gets down to near 1 degree C (32 F) for a few weeks here each year ... I stop riding around 50F or 10C. Below that it is just too cold for my old bones. OK ...I must admit though, that if I do not have to , I will dodge riding at 10 C too ... We are both pussies Thrasher ...LOL |
