Default Is it just me?

Anyone else get irked with the majority of new posters who like to throw out a single run-on sentence in the New Member section, asking for something with zero introduction?

And I fully realize I have begun to embrace my "cranky old man" phase with gusto, but I would never think of approaching a group of riders (regardless of bike type) and start blurting out what I need help with before even saying "Hi, I'm Doc! I'm wondering if someone might be able to help me out with a problem?"

Cue George Costanza's "You know, we're living in a society!"

Should I just ignore or try to instill some semblance of manners and/or decorum?

No it’s not just you. Etiquette is quickly becoming a thing of the past.
Unfortunately for them the vast majority of their posts go unanswered because of it.

Yep
I think what also annoys me is they'll write something vague like "my bike wont start please help"
And someone incredibly kind and helpful will ask for more details, in order to help them better
And they never come back to reply...

Regrettably introductions, community building, socialisation are often overlooked when accessing forums such as this, it’s incredibly widespread, and I feel it’s not an easy thing to address.

People join forums to access specific experienced based information on their chosen subject, and I feel it is because real life social groups may not always be geographically possible, and there are those who may not feel comfortable asking advice to a group, for fear of ridicule- it’s much easier to ask online.

By reaching out to the hive mind, people can relatively gain information and advice regarding how to solve such and such a problem, has anyone tried this, where might I purchase etc, and then make decisions based on the new information obtained.

i feel it is rare to see new unexplored topics being thrashed out and boundaries pushed and stretched in a positive environment, or maybe I am not going far enough down the rabbit hole.

I must admit, there are times, and I’m guilty of this as much as anyone, where questions like “ what’s the best oil, tyres, helmet, place to purchase, or bike “ drive me nuts, there is so much subjective data missing from these simple questions and a straightforward answer can’t cover everything.

Anyway, there’s my 20 cents worth, I’ll go back to googling “ CBR929RR really cool stuff that I think I might need” not that I’m actually buying much of it. 🤣😂🤣
