Default Jacket Size

I just bought a new Joe Rocket jacket yesterday. I bought one of the summer ones with the removable liner. I had to buy an XL to have length on the sleeves so they don't ride up so bad when I ride, but since I am smaller, now the jacket without the liner is a little big in the chest area after I sinch down the botton velcro and make the arm snap smaller. Question I have is, should I go with a little smaller size so it is tighter on me and deal with the shorter sleeves or should I keep the one I have? Please help me so I can take it back if I need to. Thanks

Safety thinking would have you wearing the jacket size that keeps protective padding in the position it's suppose to be in (elbows, shoulders, etc.).

Agree with the above... also, a bit tighter is better... IF, God forbid, you were to go down, if your jacket is too loose, it'll ride up if you slide on the pavement, in which case it's doing nothing to proterct your skin.

I agree with what they both said. You want the jacket to fit snug. If need be, get one jacket for summer and another for cooler weather. But you want the jacket to fit as snug as possibable, but still be comfortable.

Thanks for the info guys. After I thought about it and read your posts, I ordered one size smaller and told them when it comes in I will trade. Thanks again.
