RE: Its not a Honda but
yeh the old 250s were terrible lookings, the square headlight is what kills for me with them.
I realy dont see why small bikes are not more popular where i live. there are insane numbers of scooters around here beacuse of all the students. its funny how the styling of small bikes held back there sales, but people still buy scooters.
and people dont want to ride a 250 because of the small engine, buy you want to talk about low cc's, its a law here that over 50cc's requires a motorcycle licences, so every one has these 49.5 scooters that top out at 35 mph going down hill with a tail wind. scary as hell to ride in traffic.

250's are great to learn on, but any rider (including women) WILL want a little more getup after 6 months or so. Which is why your best bet is to find an old 250 for $1500 or so on craigs list, ride the **** out of it, then sell it for $1400 and go get the bike you want, now that you wont drop it in the first week you own it.
They look good, i agree, but $3500??? Really it is more like $4000 after tags title and bull****. You'll only sell it for $2500 if you are lucky when you want to move onto a 600. It is a waste.

RE: Its not a Honda but
Ok thats true. If a 250 is clearly the bike you want and want to keep for the long term, then i would say go for it. I have first hand experience on this, though. My ex-wife thought a 250 would be all she would really want, so she wanted to buy a new 2005. I convinced her to get a used 1995 250 instead for something ridiculous like $1100, it was in good shape, and really that bike hasnt changed in 25 years, so the 1995 was the same thing as a 2005. She loved it, of course dropped it while she learned, thanked god is wasnt a new bike and yes, in 6 months was looking for something bigger... like a Ninja 650 or SV, with more power, but nothing like an RR. People change their minds so fast with a 250 when they become competant riders.
