I'm a father. I didn't get back into riding until my children were a little older (11 and 9). I definitely keep it toned down a couple notches for them, plus full gear all the time, refresher safety instruction, and no drinking and riding.

And enough life insurance that the mortgage balance, living expenses, and their college tuition are covered.

We've got three kids, ages 6, 7, and 16. My wife took the MSF and is getting her bike in 2010. Life's too short not to go out & live a little. As stated above, have a contingency plan set up, which one should have for children anyways.

Dont think it matters. As anyone with kids, you owe it to them to be responsible and try your best come back home in one peice.

I also voted, no more than dad. But I think the real issue is whether you have the innate ability, skill and temperament to ride safely. If you are the type who can ride successfully and safely, then it is relatively responsible (assuming you have all the life insurance and such - just in case you get struck by lightning).

I voted no.

I don't think riding in general is irresponsible as long as all gear is worn and you are a competent rider and stay within your limits.
