Hey Havoc,
I can only advise on CA laws regarding insurance. Each State has different requirements. State Farm does not require a permit but you do need a valid driver's license. Eventually you will be required to get your M1 (if they catch it). You do NOT need to have any other policies with us. I've heard a few people from other states say that you do but in Cali, just your motorcycle can be insured. Not only do I work for State Farm, my bikes are insured through the company as well. A few weeks ago, I dumped my bike and State Farm paid out in less than a week for the repairs. They also paid to have my bike towed to the shop (I sprained my knee pretty bad and could not ride it home) even though I didn't have towing coverage.

valleycat ,
thats really great to know because i really liked state farm and they seem like a really good insurance company. i had always heard that you must have another policy but wonderful to know in CA its different. i just might have to contact a statefarm agent and get signed up thanks for letting me know

You are quite welcome. Being a motorcycle enthusiast, I specialize in motorcycle insurance and loans. Trying to dispel the ideas about having autos or the adage that State Farm is expensive. If you want me to quote you, drop me an e-mail. you don't have to live in So-cal, we insure a few people that are out your way as well.
Jeez, I sound like such the sales person, I don't mean it that way at all!
