I'm not scared of heights

But this gave me a few stomach twisting moments.... I've seen the communication tower guys climb - it didn't bother me, but for some reason, this just got to me...

650 meters (2,132 ft)

This is what I would be like if I were the head of security after seeing the video.

And this chick - she can get the hell out of here too... She's a badass (especially if she had to un-clip her safety line for the hand stand - which it looks like). Chang Kong Cliff Road (if you didn't know where that was taken at)

...and I get dizzy walking on my friend`s garage build`s roof laying the rain mat... jeez, I could never ever force myself up that crane, maybe if my or some other`s life depended on it but other than that, I rather stay off anywhere I can`t safely jump down from... That thing HAS to flex in the wind even a little, I`d ruin my pants in a heartbeat...

I almost puked when he stood up on that cross bar at the end.

Where's my parachute!

boredandstroked 03-09-2014 06:29 PM

No, no, NO, and oh hell mother f'in no. At least not without a parachute. I'm not afraid of heights at all, but I'm scared out of my mind of tall man made structures like buildings and bridges. Give me a parachute and I'll jump off whatever. But I don't trust them to stay standing.

I've often wondered if someone who worked near the upper floors of the Twin Towers and did base jumping as a sport and had his gear stashed in an office "just in case" might have been able to escape off the roof that day. Just think of the stories he would have been able to tell.

Of course, he also would have had to keep a gun with the chute because people who knew about it would have killed someone to get it. I had a bicycling friend who was killed while base jumping in Europe about 8 years ago.

Anyway, I thought the two in this video were going to base jump off that thing. There's absolutely no way in the world I would have stood up on top of it like that with no safety strap attached to me. I can't imagine what the wind gusts were like at that height.
