Hey:
I hate to disagree with everyone But I Used to own a big race shop and came across lots of 600s from $500-1000 all the time, from this time of year to FEB. they are out there you just have to know what to buy and what not to. A good CBR600F2/or F3 can be had for this kind of money, but hard to get a F4 in that range but not imposible. Just be diligent and you will find it.
For Example look here on the local CL: http://fayetteville.craigslist.org/mcy/2617109870.html
You have a PM TG.

I also disagree with the majority. I picked up my 92 for 1100. It was sputtering a little when I got it but that was do to the PO plugging the carb vents with bolts, he must of figured they where vacuum lines lol. The bike has all new china fairings and be gave me the factory ones as well which have seen better days. Bike has newish tires on it and new brake pads, updated halogen headlamp, fender eliminator kit, K&N filter, beat old two bros exhaust that I'm replacing and a fox twin clicker installed. Here's the real kicker though. Only 8k on the clock when I bought it 3 weeks ago. Has 8.6 k now lol.

I never said that it wasn't possible, just improbable without a little patience and
possibly widening the scope of her search.
I haunt craigs and ebay a lot to keep up on the market (whether I'm shopping or not).
In the last year, I have seen 3-4 rides that I would have thrown down less than a $k
for, that were street safe and descent looks. Not all of them were Hondas, though.
P.S. You know if you pick up something that needs a little work, if it'll satisfy the ride
monkey, you can always sweet-talk your hubby into helping you just 'tweak' a few
things. Spread it out over time, sort of stealth-like, till you're saying, "Yes I love you! No, you can't ride my bike! Ride your own." ;-)
