So long as you're running IE, you should run the latest version. I'm not a Microsoft fanboy but if you do any online shopping/banking, you should install IE7.

I'll let the beta chumps iron out the problems then install it later...

I am not a fan of Microsoft anymore. I just get tired of the dated look, as well as little problems happening frequently. Glad your happy with beta though, you can have that.

A piece of software undergoes various stages along its development. There is alpha, beta, and RC (release candidate) versions. As the development moves closer to a stable version, it progresses in stages. Right now, IE8 is in the beta version and is available for users to test and report bugs/errors.
