So I leave on my bike this morning for school. Somewhere along the way a hear a ticking noise. I figger i'll check it out when i get home later. Later, on my way home from school, i accelerate kinda hard out of a stop sign. Then my bike stops accelerating and my motor revs up to the limiter. I felt my chain zip out and then heard it skittering along the asphalt. F**K.
Nothing else got hurt and my bike is home now.
From the looks of it, here's what happened: One of the rollers is just missing off of the chain link, with no possible way it could've gotten off except to break in half. Anyway, i figger this let it rattle around, which is why the pins are just straight ground off on one side, and that side of the link is hanging free. The other side couldn't hold up to the tension by itself, and eventually broke where it hooks around the pin.

Yeah, i'm planning on replacing the sprockets as well. I'm gonna search this for a how-to, if there isn't one, i'll post one up. Suggestions on chains? I'm contemplating the -1/+2, what will this do to RPMs/gas mileage?
And Dinez, i was actually going around 100, not incredibly fast, but not a speed i'd want something ****ing up at. I coasted for about half a mile to the next small road.

Yeah your lucky, heard of em actually busting their way through the casing, I had one break & wrap around the rear sprocket on my 250 Honda & just instantly locked the rear wheel. (all from total laziness & neglect)That was one experience I don't want to repeat. Learned my lesson right there & keep my chain cleaned & lubed & its a good time to see if there are any problems.
