Movies and movie makers do this. I see underworld 3 is coming out soon. I actually really liked both of the first ones, but i see they have Rhona Mitra playing the lead. I really dont like when they change like that. Am i the only one it bugs?

Just to add, Rhona is very beautiful, and does fit the part, but she is still not Kate [>:]

 

I normally don't watch the movie if the main cast was changed from the previous one... anti climax!

the character Rhona is playing isn't the same character as Kate. If you remember from the second one, Selene's story was that she was spared by Victor, because she resembled his dead daughter, who he murdered for being in love with the warewolfguy (forgot his name). Underworld 3 takes place a few hundered years before Selene (Kate) was even born.
