Default I just dont get it?

Why would anyone say a 1k is the way to go if your new to riding? Its guys like these that reenforce a comfort feeling in new riders and then they go get hurt. GAAA It just frustartes me.

Being a rider you would think that someone without experience should not get on a 400lb bike with a massive amount of power unless they are very careful. just my 2cents though.

I guess that is his attempt at a sales pitch. I know I was at a motorcycle show a few years back, overheard a sales man talking to a guy as they were standing over a GSX-R 1000. Sales man asks they guy if he has ever ridden before, guys says he has no experience, and salesman tells him that the 1000 is a great starter bike. I guess its all about the sale though. Once it is out the door its no longer his problem.

I'm sure he just wants to sell it. Heck I'll say my paint job adds 10 extra HP and if the new buyer is too dumb to know better than his loss is my gain. Plus I bet all of his buddies have liter bikes and your just not cool unless you have one.

I'd suggest climbing the displacement ladder one rung at a time. Baby steps. Learn to walk then run. If I were a salesman I would also push taking a MSF course or include it with the purchase.
At least with this approach I might get return customers.

Around here the Litre bikes seem to stay online for a lot longer then the smaller 600 range bikes. 250cc bikes hardly last anytime at all. The smaller bikes are usually picked up by new/newer riders, or people that don't need the power and speed of anything bigger, with fewer advancing on to bigger bikes. It's a supply and demand thing, there's not much demand for the bigger bikes, so he's trying to convince some one they need it. He's an idiot, but if some one buys a 1L bike to start and eats it, they'll just be proving Darwin right.

The most convincing statement ive read which is also the most bullsh!t statement:
"Never been rained on!" <-----seriously if you havent been caught in other than perfect weather ur riding for the wrong reasons! Ive been caught in the rain many times, when i want to sell it guess what pitch is goin in there! You say and do what you need to if u want to make the sell......honesty isnt the greatest virtue when trying to sell something

Dunno what you guys are talking about, you should always get a 1000 or 1300 for your first bike if you're not a sissy girl

I've never been caught in the rain and never plan to. It isn't fun or overly safe to ride in the rain so why wouldn't I just take a different vehicle if rain looked probable.

On the subject of a 1k for your first bike - that is each persons decision and if they are too stupid to make a responsible decision that is their problem.

Ya the never caught in the rain part is hard intake also. haha.

Ive been caught in the rain many times. Only cause my baby is my only source of transportation unless the wife has the day off. Even then i still opt for the bike.
