Default I.C.C. - Needs Motorcyclist Warning?

With the kagillion fancy gadgets that came with my car I hadn't had a chance to mess with one of them until today. The I.C.C. (Intelligent Cruise Control) which lets the vehicles sensors in front sense when there is a slower moving vehicle ahead of you and automatically reduce your speed to match and then resume the original cruise control speed when slowpoke moves out of the way or when you switch to a clear lane. The sensor can be adjusted so you can choose if you want it to slow way in advance or if you want to live on the edge and have it brake harder at closer range.

Everything was going swimmingly and I was impressed with the technology after its 2 first smooth slow downs as I neared slower moving vehicles. HOWEVER, on the 3rd vehicle (which was a motorcyclist) I noticed it was not slowing on its own and I had to quickly start braking. When I got home and opened the owners manual, in the section covering ICC they have big bold print that the sensor is only on either side of the front and it will NOT sense stationery vehicles, pedestrians OR MOTORCYCLES. Now, we all know 95% probably never crack open the manual and no one mentioned this to me when I bought the car, so I hope some schmuck doesn't just "set it and forget it" and run into the back of a cyclist. I wonder if it has ever happened and how we'd even know it if it had .. it's not li.ke anyone would ever admit to it.

Tape a magnet to the bottom of your bike. It'll help with the inductance loops that some lights u s e to detect cars.

And what kind of car DO you have? I could never trust that auto cruise control stuff since I usually u s e my cruise control at abt 85-90 miles an hour when the road is clear. Otherwise my foot is the controller.

I think a device l i k e this should only be used as a backup of the human. It would be a completely different story if it was a closed system.

Dude, whatever...I got stuff to do when I am in the car: I have coffee to drink, text messages to send, phone calls to make, stuff to find under the seat, "alone" time when not next to a semi...I don't have time to be driving and stuff, too. I wish they came with auto steer, as well.
