What's the deal with these things anyway?
http://www.hyosungmotors.com.au/

I really want to get my girlfriend a bike, plus it would be cheap as hell and better than a 250 to start off on since it's slower'n crap but she could still keep up with my 54 on the highway.

Anybody have one or have any experience with one?

i don't know much about these bikes, but from what i hear they are a lot cheaper than the
"big four" production bikes, but if you look at the specs and from others that have sat and ridden them, they have a cheaper feel to them and weigh's a lot more

I talked with a guy who had one. Said he's had nothing but problems from it. Give about 2 years or so, then they should be up to snuff with the kind of reliability we expect here.

A Korean bike company i believe. They used to make parts for Suzuki and now have their own line. Since they are new it may take a little while to work out the kinks. I remember reading a 'cheap bike' roundup in Motorcycle Magezine and they liked it, but had a few mechanical problems out of the box.

Look again at the prices, they are like $6000-$8000. That doesn't seem like a deal when you can get a Ninja or Yamaha YZF 600 for about the same money. Sounds like a crap shoot to me.

I'd get her a Ninja 250 for like $1500-$2000 (used). It has enough power to get on the freeway and do 60-70-80. Then, if she doesn't like it, you haven't dumped a wad of cash. A 250 would be perfect! If she does like it, you can upgrade later...let her cut her teeth first.
