I can tell you from the insurance side that more often then not, the finance companies call us direct for proof of insurance bypassing the need to get the information from the policy holder.

I sold cars and did finace for about 4 years at a honda dealership. American Honda does have to have proof of full coverage insurance before you take delivery. If the dealer didn't get it from you Its their fault because honda needs it. If you don't provide them with proof of full coverage insurance or if it lapses they can and will force insurance on you. they tack it on to your payment and it's usually skyhigh like several hundred per month. you don't want that to happen.

don't be stupid.. get the insurance
Ok.. so i'm reading these posts about "I could replace my bike for cheaper than insurance" and "Their premiums are rediculous." And some of you are right on one point. You can replace your bike for the amount you pay in insurance.. if nothing ever happens. But what if you buy the bike and have it for 2 days and some idiot runs you down on the hwy? You haven't yet paid a premium and your bike is taken care of. So don't be a fool.
And if any of you are thinking you won't get insurance at all... dumb. You don't really buy your insurance just for replacing your bike. You buy it #1 cause its the law.. and #2 because accidents happen.. and its not always the other driver thats at fault. We all walk around pretending that we are the best drivers on the planet... but truth is... accidents happen. Its very easy not to see someone in you blind spot.. or not be paying attention and run a stop light or stop sign. If this happens and you hit someone and they are hurt... you could be paying a Sh** ton of money out of pocket if you don't have insurance. You could be paying for their lost wages cause they are unable to work.. Medical bills.. "Emotional" damages.. To replace their car and so on. This is the main reason for buying the insurance.

This has nothing to do with the technical aspect of motorcycles.
Moved to off topic which is where it belongs (if at all- Geez it's 6 YEARS OLD)
