ive been riding since my training wheels came off my bike and would never think of not wearing a helmet. we have laws but most of the cruiser riders ride around wear those fake helmets seems like those would do more harm than good.

To me, not wearing a helmet is like not wearing steel toed boots on a construction site. Yep, they do that in third world countries where they don't know better or can't afford the protection, but in any developed countries its only the morons that do construction without safety boots.

You hear the same lame excuses as well. Flip flops are more comfy than steel toed boots.

No helmet law here in IL.
I wear mine all the time, in fact only one time where I didn't (gave a girl a ride and she wanted to wear it). But, I definitely would not want to see helmets required by law here in IL.

I don't ride without a helmet. If I'm moving the bike from the garage to wash it, I'm wearing a helmet. To the corner store, a helmet. I had a good friend die from a head injury he got when he crashed making a low speed turn. It doesn't take much.

Question...
1/ Would you if allowed, ride on the bonnet or roof of your car at 60mph with a bare head ??
2/ What would any people that would do that be called by any on lookers?
It is a civil liberties thing mostly. We are required by law in IL to have some type of eye protection or a tall enough windshield to cover our eyes. This I agree with wholeheartedly. You have to be able to see to control any motor vehicle hence the necessity of eye protection but, a helmet imo does not aid in the control of a motorcycle. I would rather have the freedom to know that I can go without a helmet if the circumstances dictate it nesscary without having to worry about the fuzz coming down on me. Than an overbearing law, which does little to protect anyone other than the rider who is fully capable of accepting the risk of not riding with a helmet.
And...
1. Yea not going to lie sitting on the hood of my car while moving while being impossibly dumb would be exhilirating.
2. Probably a mixed bag there.

Cool Its a good idea

im originally from south beloit, il. just moved down to phoenix,az to go to school and what not but anyways there are alot of people out there that dont care about motorcycle riders and dont pay attention even driving in my truck ive almost been in 3 accidents within 3 months because of the moron not paying attention and gabbing on the telephone and even il. it was preety bad there are just too many people that dont think of a motorcycle being there and move over into a lane and bam your hit.

Also to add to that my buddy got his head run over by a car while he was riding and that helmet saved his life.

WI has no helmet law, being the home of Harley, the motorcycle lobby in this state is just too strong. That being said, I always wear mine. Always. If you think it it makes you look sexy, or cool to not wear a helmet, just consider the words of Hannah, a Hooters girl who practically sat ON my lap for lunch last Fri: "I see you wear your helmet. That's hot! I see a lot of guys not wearing helmets 'cause they think it makes them look cool, Well they don't look cool, in fact they look pretty stupid to me" , now I know I'm profiling here but if a non-riding HOOTERS GIRL has it figured out, then it should be a no-brainer,(which is exactly what you will be if you don't wear a helmet!)-'nuff said
